Upshotknothole
Personally I wouldn't trust one of those cheap aftermarket wheels hitting a pot hole at high speed and not taking damage or failing completely. 2 Quote Link to comment
bluedog59
I seem to recall that one of the bike mags ( PB or Practical Sportsbikes ? ) doing a test on this sort of wheel a few years ago. If I remember correctly they concluded that although they were ok , they did deform more in the event of a major impact rendering them irreparable. A little research should turn up the relevant article rather than take my recollection as gospel. 1 Quote Link to comment
Dezza
How much is a good secondhand OEM wheel? At least you'll know it'll fit properly, which in my experience with pattern parts is not always the case. 1 Quote Link to comment
gixermike
well the oem wheels are about 200 or so but the can have discs too which helps thanks for confirming my doubts Quote Link to comment

Upshotknothole
Also a used wheel will have bearings and spacer, probably in usable condition. Quote Link to comment

rodneya
I've had two Chinese front wheels that I bought without looking close enough that were not true. I did use the chinese disk rotors off them, and they are not too bad 2 Quote Link to comment
BillyR
I had one in the front of my old gsxr1000k5 due to buying it as a accident damaged bike. Got me to south of france twice, with luggage, and did a few sprints, not to mention the odd accidental wheelie, absolutely no problems. 1 Quote Link to comment
