I seem to recall that one of the bike mags ( PB or Practical Sportsbikes ? ) doing a test on this sort of wheel a few years ago. If I remember correctly they concluded that although they were ok , they did deform more in the event of a major impact rendering them irreparable. A little research should turn up the relevant article rather than take my recollection as gospel.

How much is a good secondhand OEM wheel? At least you'll know it'll fit properly, which in my experience with pattern parts is not always the case.

I've had two Chinese front wheels that I bought without looking close enough that were not true.

I did use the chinese disk rotors off them, and they are not too bad

I had one in the front of my old gsxr1000k5 due to buying it as a accident damaged bike.

Got me to south of france twice, with luggage,  and did a few sprints, not to mention the odd accidental wheelie, absolutely no problems.
