BillyR Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Another vote for R1/R6 wheels, they make a noticeable difference. My last one i picked up as accident damaged (rear ended) subframe was bent so it got cut and and i fitted a 03 gsxr750 aftermarket race seat unit/subframe that was cheap on Eblag. Weighed less and looked a lot better. Replacing standard (heavy) exhaust system is another place to lose weight (cheaply...ish) Id imagine that more modern forks/arm/wheel combo will be even lighter. The fun with Busa's is to be had on fast A roads or motorways when its effortless high speed fun. Quote

I have gsxr1000k7 wheels, titanium exhaust and a blade seat unit which will be fixed before turbo time 7 Quote
clivegto Posted September 3 Author Posted September 3 (edited) With the blue Streetfighter tank fitted the bars crushed my fingers against the tank. So I bought some longer bolts and made 4 spacers up to lift the risers from the top yoke. I'v had a ride round in the yard & it works well. Edited September 3 by clivegto 4 Quote

Aside from the 'I made it myself' kick you get with stuff like that, it's one of those double take modifications where you know something's different but it takes a moment to work out exactly what. clivegto Posted September 4 Author Posted September 4 Did some research on turbo setups on these motors and a lot of people junk the oilcooler completely. Not really likeing this idea I bought a Mocal Laminova oilcooler cooled by water of a guy on a FB selling page, even came with all the lines . Will be fitting this at a later stage. 5 Quote
DAZ Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Wonder if there would be any benefit in plumbing the turbo in if it's got water passages ? , not sure whether it's would run that much cooler as they're in the breeze more than a car , or whether it would just put more heat into the cooling system.... Quote

Tis a fair point, I'll ask Dodge. 1 Quote

The water-cooling was essentially a reliability thing with cars to protect the plastic bearing cages from getting cooked after a hot shut-down as no one can be bothered to idle an engine for 30 seconds! If no water, then a longer cool down is more important 1 Quote

Dodge and Daz Rose both told me this evening that it's not essential and they don't know any one else cooling there turbos with water and to be fair I don't on my oil cooled bikes either. 1 Quote

baldrick Posted September 10 Posted September 10 here you go mate. its mid build after i stripped it down and sold off the single sider and front end etc. its now sporting a r1 front end in custom yokes, r1 wheels and an extended swingarm. gsxr k1 seat unit went binwards and i got a mate to build a one off subframe battery box etc, but due to mke having 2 fucked knees i need to raise it some more so its off the bike. i used all genuine parts as pattern stuff is usually rubbish. ive a fair way to go, but its taking shape 6 Quote
