anybody got any better .way of holding std switchgear...to rentals.other than tape or cardboard

They have screws to hold them to the bars. Have you removed the little plastic dowls on the switch gear ?

Yes..removed the small locating dowels...they are so close.just not quite tight enough

Drill hole were the plastic peg was drill the bars and use a roll pin ..

they won't stay tight on the bars, you need to drill for the peg.  or wrap tape round the bars.  ive used some shim steel in the past, you can get it in sheets.

Don't remove all the plastic peg. Not a problem on 3 of my bikes with Renthal's fitted.

Never had a problem with standard switchgear and Renthals.

Wrap self almlgamating tape round

If you've removed the plastic lug (why do people do this ?) As above ever rap with tape or drill both switch gear and bars, I've used a chopped off part of a rivet before works a treat.

the best part is trying to drill the hole in the right place

using a strip of emery cloth is an option in the bodgery department

if tape doesnt work, cut a shim from a beer can and wrap it round the bar under the switches.
