justin Posted June 9, 2020 Author Posted June 9, 2020 #martyngsxr was kind enough to let me go and see his Micron exhaust at the weekend. A bit of a you show me yours and I'll show you mine. They are exactly the same and his are confirmed for a GSXR 750 L. Big thanks to Martyngsxr for being such a gent. Doesn't change that the pipes touch the bellypan but confirmed that is the design and they aren't some mismatched Frankenstein exhaust. 1 Quote
justin Posted June 28, 2020 Author Posted June 28, 2020 It is taking a while but I should have the new exhaust next week. Once I have it fitted I will post a review in full. Quote
justin Posted July 3, 2020 Author Posted July 3, 2020 latest from Germany, exhaust will be posted Tuesday so no review until next week. Quote
justin Posted August 4, 2020 Author Posted August 4, 2020 Well the exhaust turned up today. Speed Products Cobra S4, brushed stainless headers and link pipe, stainless silencer. The badge isn't stuck as asked for it loose. They have 2 styles so will see which looks best before sticking on. Plan is to fit this weekend and provide a review on fit, sound and how she runs. 1 Quote
justin Posted August 7, 2020 Author Posted August 7, 2020 Bonus is I got the old bolts out today without snapping any, hooray. Not easy to do while holding your breath. Need to ponder the sump bolt tomorrow as it appears to be 20mm so need another socket. 1 Quote

justin Posted August 7, 2020 Author Posted August 7, 2020 Cheers, that is a great help. 21mm socket is then tomorrow. Quote
justin Posted August 8, 2020 Author Posted August 8, 2020 Well oil change completed thanks to @Captain Chaosconfirming 21mm socket. Had fun getting old exhaust gaskets out. Mmmm job has stalled..... Headers won't work with standard M8 x 25mm bolts so after much swearing M8 x 35mm ordered. Job will be stalled until next weekend. Rather frustrating but hey I have another bike and Wales beckons tomorrow Quote
Dezza Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 The 90 degree bend bit of an engineer's pick, £1-00 for a quality Eclipse item at autojumbles, enables fairly easy exhaust gasket removal Quote

Swiss Toni Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Make sure you get all the shit out of the seat. Rotary brush on the Bkack & Decker works well! Quote

justin Posted August 22, 2020 Author Posted August 22, 2020 Well no pic of the finished exhaust due to a link pipe issue that I am waiting for a resolution to. Headers fit nice with 35mm M8 bolts and clear the fairings which is good news 2 Quote
justin Posted September 12, 2020 Author Posted September 12, 2020 (edited) Still haven't posted the full and final review as still ironing out a few points with the manufacturer. Will do a full review once all completed. Edited September 21, 2020 by justin grammar Quote
justin Posted November 12, 2020 Author Posted November 12, 2020 Well nearly 6 months after starting the post I can't finish it. As I respect rule 16 nothing more will be added. Ah well, back to the drawing board. Quote

Maybe because it appears that he's trying to use a Micron can so a 'custom' link pipe required which seemingly is where a non performance related issue has arisen! EDIT - Apologies to Dezza, Just re-read the whole thread and yeah I agree - why doesn't a whole Cobra system fit, presumingly you got a whole system? Edited November 13, 2020 by Gixer1460 Quote

Gixer1460 Posted November 14, 2020 Posted November 14, 2020 I don't think a blandit sump would make a shred of difference - you tilt the outlet up & it puts the exhaust inlets on the piss! You'd have to re-bend the whole manifold to make a better fit! Quote
Dezza Posted November 14, 2020 Posted November 14, 2020 The pic just isn't clear as to why it doesn't fit. If a complete system is sold as suitable for a specific model, it should fit that model, downpipes, link pipe, can and alll. From a Teutonic manufacturer I would have expected it to fit well out of the box. To paraphrase Mr Blewitt: "They make a nice stainless GSXR full system, these Germans." Quote
Captain Chaos Posted November 14, 2020 Posted November 14, 2020 let's wait for @justin's explanation, and not guess. Quote
