Damienga15de Posted August 15, 2019 Posted August 15, 2019 Since iv fitted the 1127 the sebring headers don't clear the oil cooler, iv made some solid brackets to space the bottom out enough to clear . Will these cause me issues? Quote
Gixer1460 Posted August 15, 2019 Posted August 15, 2019 Standard cooler tabs have rubber isolators in the slots - engine and road vibrations can fracture tabs and possibly that aluminium ? bracket - is it 3mm? Quote
Captain Chaos Posted August 15, 2019 Posted August 15, 2019 Once I bought a new Termignoni 4-2-1 system and it included similar brackets to space out the cooler a bit. Everything was cool, until the first proper braking action, the steering was locked solid under nearly full compression. Turned out the front mudguard was touching the cooler. A short session with the angle grinder was enough, I just removed 2 cm from the rear of the mudguard. And if I were you I would put the rubbers in those brackets, just like the original bottom cooler mounts. Quote
Damienga15de Posted August 15, 2019 Author Posted August 15, 2019 The problem is using the rubbers means I have to shift the cooler out further at the bottom I think the clearance for the mudguard is OK now but if I go further it may not be, I'd have to make some angle spacers for the top too Quote
Racer-X Posted August 18, 2019 Posted August 18, 2019 I'd personally go with the rubber inserts as ally and vibrations don't mix well. Quote
clivegto Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 (edited) Rubber is good the more the better, you dont want the cooler to bust like 3 of mine did without rubber mounts top & bottom is good, no more problems. Edited August 21, 2019 by clivegto Quote
Dezza Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 Can the slots be filed out a bit so as to accommodate some rubber packing? The tangs on the cooler can then be 'insulated' with rubber that probably won't need to be very thick. Does the top mount have a rubber grommet too? Quote
Hoomietune Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 As Dezza Up graded rubber grommets on 2 x fixing bolts ( rubber fixings outlet store ) I had a similar issue with an aftermarket oil cooler I made up an oil cooler holding bracket for the bottom of the cooler with locating tabs to suit the lugs on the frame Using some push iron inner tube rubber glued to the cooler holding tabs never had a problem Quote

Bow Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 How much room do you have above the cooler ? On Bandits, I lift the coolers by 10 mil by re drilling the top mount holes and lengthen the bottom tabs to seat in the lower mounts. I've not looked at GSXR frames, some one more knowledgeable might know if it’s an option. its a common problem when fitting larger diameter headers to bandits Quote
