ive just reread your first post wraith (im dyslexic), you mean the two bits that wrap around the cylinders ? they are for crash protection as they can be hidden behind a fairing, but they are quite stiff so they will help to keep the frame ridged. theirs nowt stopping you leaving them off but it might not help the handling !!!!
-
do you mean the two frame rails that cradle under the engine ? if so suzuki fitted them for a reason to give the frame strength. without them it will flex and their will be only the two engine mounts at the rear.
-
dont worry wraith, people mocked and laughed at the elephant man but he was a nice guy underneath
-
maybe your clutch need looking at ?
-
its just letting you know its changed gear
-
if anyone is interested i got hold of a NOS spindle for £12, and the length is 330mm not including the head.

agree John, yeah one of the things i did on the 750 was sort out the bodged wiring and do away with the light loop, its still running an original oem R/R and it still charges perfect (for now) the old motors where over engineered which makes them last, the engine in mine is so quiet for a 40 year old not like my 1200 bandit engine.
-
they do, but someone asked the question about USD's
-
USD stanchions can be a rite bitch to remove, the grub screw normally seizes in but if you get that out unscrewing the stanchion is really tight. i did one of my legs a few months ago, will not do it again unless i have all the right gear, much easier getting a shop to do it.

looking down the bore of the carbs are all the throttle butterflies fully closed ? if so it could be an air leak.
-
if i go for an 1100 AC engine it would be left standard, im not bothered about having a 130 bhp im happy with an engine that has lots of torque and low down grunt
-
the carb spacing is different on mk2's compared to mk1's . you might have problems lining them up ? but not sure if you can find rubbers to match.
-
when you have that many kids you cant afford many projects most of em have gone but still got 2 at home, the 2 bloody girls
-
i like engines with a roller bearing crank. yeah i know they can twist but but a pretty strong bottom end.
-
also double check the chain alignment is ok.
-
ha ha yeah theirs 7 of em
-
gona have to sell some of the kids and start saving up for one
-
can't say ive ever seen one of them for sale ????
-
on a similar vain i put a 1200 bandit engine into a Z1100 shaft frame, i know the engine is smaller than a GS1000 but as bin said loads of room for a wide swingarm and plenty of room for the chain.
-
it was the black top on the 1200 bandit carbs, they as you know are a bit taller than the 600's. the thing is i was trying to put together a collection of parts i had lying around and build something to mess about on ( ive been on long term sick ) so cash is tight. but that bike has been put to one side as i'm on with the 750ET
-
oh i understand wraith, ive ridden a few gsx1100's and owned a bike with a 1260 big bore in it, ive also ridden countless 1200 bandits and gsxr1100's (owned both) i love the oil cooled engine as its one of the best engines suzuki ever built but i think a gsx looks really cool with the air cooled engine in it. this was my mad gsxr1100 i built, tried to kill me many times
