Fitted to GSX1100 cases. Same problem. Cases not wide enough, two housings too big. I'm really starting to think smaller GS. But, would crank & barrels transplant? I know the crank is definitely 1100, as I've measured the stroke at 66mm, and small ends are 18mm. And, as an aside, how do I insert text between pictures, using iPhone? Answers on a postcard please (PM me)!

This is the cluster fitted to '78 GS750EC cases. As you can see, the case isn't wide enough, and the housings for two of the bearings are far bigger. So, the original engine wasn't GS750! Well, I'm saying wasn't, as in 8 valve 750! The donor was 16 valve.

This is getting really interesting! The motor came out of a supposedly 1150 EFE, but as soon as I clapped eyes on it, I knew it wasn't! It's frame number started DV, where EFE's should start GV (or the other way round)? No engine numbers either! It was even documented in the V5 as, 'Engine number: Not known'. Never seen that before! It was fitted with 998cc barrels. I forgot about 850's being shafties, so they're ruled out! The fact that it's a six speed ... how about any of the smaller GS's? Were they six speed? Would a twins gearbox even fit into a four? What about a 550 EFE? Same type of square section frame. What did their frame numbers start with? I'll dig the photo of the gearbox's original home out later on. By gum, 't things caused reet aggro!

Strange. It came out of a Suzuki motor I stripped years ago. Unfortunately, I can't for the life of me remember what motor it was. But, it definitely was not 'Onda!
-
Can anyone ID this gearbox? I know they all look the same, so I've put the selector drum in the frame too. It's a bit different to the 1100's I'm familiar with. I've a sneaking suspicion it's GS750/850?

Gsxr Slabside engine mount spacer dimensions
Swiss Toni replied to MooreMatthew's topic in Oil Cooled
For the bottom spacer in a 7/11 I had, I made an adjustable spacer out of a big bolt and sleeve. Engine stud goes through it, as per normal, spacer opened out to remove all free play, tighten locknut. Seemples! -

Forgot you'd just scored yourself the 1100! From Alpha Sports fische. Top right @ 46mm Top left @ 59mm Bottom right @ 27mm Hope that helps! -
Hey riffer. So I see! Away for a look, right now. Post amended to suit!

@FixitHow's the project going, mate? Get some pictures up (or it didn't happen).

I measured mine before I took them out. I'll see if I can find them. We are talking 750 here, aren't we? -
Curiosity killed the cat! I just had to dig mine out and look! I thought the Airbox mounts for the brackets were a 'squared off' housing that the brackets fitted 'into'. Not so! The brkts can be fitted either way! If you look closely at Si's 'fische', you'll see the rounded ends of the brackets go to the frame.
-
Are those front brackets not 'squared off' to fit into the Airbox housings? That long since I've seen mine!
-
@wsn03 cheers mate!

Wait 'till it's time to put the carbs on!
-
@wsn03 Can you measure the foam packing on your Airbox for me? Mine's gone 'walkabout'! (L x D x W).

Hi Aymen. Welcome to OSS. As Spirit says, try an alternative unit. You never know. Or, try ordering one from UK breaker?

Just measured the leg centres on my '85F model @ 205mm. I've a feeling the 1100's legs may be slightly wider spaced. Then ... what about the offset? Are they the same?
-
ET's still rule, then! God knows what it's cost to get it to that stage! Gotta be worth it though, to show those 'Busa' drivers how it's done!
-
Doubt it! Different part no's!

Sort the locating peg out with a ball bearing down the hole. That will take some of the load off the bolts. All the above mods will help too!

UN-crimp the bezel a little at a time, so's not to deform it. Go around at least half a dozen times, if need be. If you have a replacement needle, ease the old needle off its pin by using two teaspoons opposite each other as levers. Replace new needle carefully. And, as they say, 'Robert's your Mothers Brother! Simples!

Sounds great! It's turned out well!

Hello, Billd. Welcome to OSS.

Everything you mention is pretty much a straight swap. Front and rear ends go in easily. Don't know about the Mk2 calipers being any worse than the Mk 1's. The 1200 engine should go straight in the frame, if you're thinking about more power. The Mk 1 does, so I can't see the later engine causing any problems. Don't use the std rear shock. Later GSXR models are an improvement. FBOAB will be along shortly to specify, and ... welcome to OSS!
