  1. I have Quadlock mounts on 3 of my bikes (the ones I use for distance). Great system, 160+hp bikes and riding like an arse the phone is held tight. Heaps of options, Stem mounts, bar mounts etc etc. Options to add wireless chargers too. I won’t use anything else. Doing 500+ mile days on big thirsty bikes I predominantly use google maps. Big help knowing distance to the next servo for fuel at a glance. Needed to find a bike shop in a town I didn’t know, it took me straight to the door. I used maps and pre written instructions for decades. Maps on my phone offers so much more and is quicker and easier to use. It’s never been a distraction and on local fun rides or with mates I just turn it off. Short version: The correct answer to the question. Quadlock.
  2. My 1100 Kat was the same. Came up nice with a bit of Autosol so I left it like that. Bike had a few polished bits. Cap went dull if neglected for ages but came good again easy enough.
  3. All good. Same here. Even though my older bike projects haven’t got much attention recently I’ve still picked up stuff to squirrel away ready.
  4. Nice. A good start. I have something similar that I stashed away (along with a 99 Bandit 12) for a future build but life and several other projects are in front of it. I hope you keep updating the build on here, it’s interesting and I need the motivation.
  5. It was a while back but I went the same way. Ended up with JMC chopping my concentric’s off and welding on 6” drag adjusters. I’m not sure who’d be best to do it now but it’s certainly no big drama.
  6. Tea pot = GSXF 6 / 7 Powerscreen = 1100F (Well, to me anyway) Teapot name refers to the shape, bulbous rounded main bodywork and the spout as the tail, doesn’t really fit the 1100. What Slabbie roller is it? G, H, J ? Any pics?
  7. Similar story here. New bikes, Slabsider roller etc. Theres a lot of Bandit 12’s around…
  8. I think ones like the 1290 SuperDuke’s were still 40mm shorter than my Bandits.
  9. I’ve seen some quite tidy thread in extensions. IMO the bottom yoke takes the load and most of the work and personally I don’t see screw in extensions being as big a drama some folk say they are.
  10. Just went out to the shed for a look. Mine has a 110/80 front tyre on a 2.50 x 18 rim. A 160/60 rear tyre on a 4.25 x 18 rim. Mine’s a bit close to the sides of the front guard and to the chain. Lots of variables. Changing the guards, chain size and run etc etc make a difference. Take tyre sizes with a huge pinch of salt too, there’s quite a difference between brands and models of tyres that wear identical numbers. Where in AU are you? I was Brisbane but I’ve moved West / rural now.
  11. It’ll check my rim sizes tomorrow if I remember. I’m running wider 18” rims with standard forks and swingarm. Can’t remember rim or tyre sizes, but it’s running the same size tyres as an early GSXR I think.
  12. Aren’t the RF carbs more angled and upright facing? “If” they fit what are you planning for an airbox / airfilter ? Airfilters, inlet rubbers, spacing, jetting etc etc. I’m sure it’s do-able if you’re keen but personally I’d be looking for something more popular from air or oil cooled models that are more similar.
  13. Early 14, basic ignition with no smart chip in the key like the later model ? . A: A wreckers, buy a lock set from a crashed bike and everything still gets a common key. B: I’ve used aftermarket ignition barrel / key sets. Cheap. They worked, but never seemed as nice as the factory originals.
  14. Yeah, no bad thing, but the new cans they are selling look quite different to the classic Works systems.
  15. They had a few issues and moved production to Italy about 5 years ago, aiming more at later models. Don’t think Norman Hyde had the jigs as they were previously using a different supplier who they were less than happy with so I’m not sure who has the jigs or if they have the rights to production. EDIT to add pic / info.
  16. Yeah, the 1200/4 runs the cam chain on the end the same as it’s very similar ZZR1100 and other Kwaks, not central between pots 2 and 3 like older Suzuki’s. I know folk do re-space carbs as I’ve seen it done for the odd size GSX1400 but it’s just adding more work.
  17. Welcome. Whilst not a huge fan of the L / Custom bikes I did sell a Z1000LTD a while back that later ended up as a very tidy Z900/1000 looking bike. As I’m sure you know they are still a good base for a less L / cruiser / custom build. I look forward to more updates.
  18. I’ve met two guys out here running PTR 1620cc motors. One was at the drags, one was a demo bike on loan on one of our runs. PTR quotes around 160hp, he’s not cheap, but both bikes went real well and were certainly healthy.
  19. I’ve never seen cam to cam oil lines. The plugs most folk use don’t feed directly to the cams, without a feed from lower in the motor they also do nothing except add weight, places to leak and bling that identifies they as pointless bolt on tat. Edit: Not sure I should link to another forum, but….
  20. Surely you could find a more modern front end, still of the same style and look, and still be able to return it to stock if needed, without using another 80’s front end that was never that great anyway? I understand about the right look and style, and being able to return to stock, but if you’re going to the trouble of doing it an 1135E / GS1150 front end wouldn’t be high on my list however cheap.
  21. I hope you keep the thread going with any updates. It’s a long time since I had one, but funny enough someone in the village put one up for sale then deleted the ad. I contacted him and he said he’d decided not to sell, but he’d phone me up next time, so I might be an owner again one day. I have a couple of other bikes but I could always find room for another GSX.
  22. Personal experience with the GSX750ESD…. from my old and faded memories…. # It was quite comfy. # The 16” front always seemed a bit fussy about tyre wear and pressure. # The “Box” style 750 frame wasn’t a natural fit for the 1100 motors like some Suzuki’s are. # Off all the other GSX’s it’s closest relative is the 750 “Pop-Up” headlight Katana.
  23. You’ve probably worked out that whilst the 2 valves cylinder / 8 valve head bikes were “GS” around the world, most countries had the 16v bikes labeled as GSX’s. If I see a 16v bike in the UK or AU labeled as a GS it’s normaly a USA import. US also got some odd downsized 750’s that became 700’s to avoid Ronnie Raygun’s big bike tax to protect H*rley.
