  1. Thread from the dead ! Just reading up on the 400’s. I know very little about them but was given a rolling frame and tank for free. Being a bit of a hoarder I couldn’t say no. Being a 1984 I’m assuming it’s the original GSXR.
  2. Well, if nothing else it’s solved my previous question about fitting my 1100 alloy arm and 1100 alloy peg hangers to a 750 frame now I have a spare 1100 frame to use.
  3. I really wasn’t after another project. I have bikes stashed away in various sheds and garages and more work than I’ll need. Currently in the middle of building a house and then moving again. But…… we all know you’ll never find stuff when you want it and I hate walking away from a deal. So today’s purchase… (1980 1100)
  4. I haven’t done it, but I put the 11 arm in my 750 frame and it seemed like it would. Mine is missing the end caps and the correct spindle / spacer but I can’t see any obvious dramas.
  5. Yes. I read up on here about that. Either bore the frame or sleeve the arm. Different but fixable.
  6. I just offered my 1100 ones up to my 750 frame and they didn’t seem to line up. I didn’t know the 750 ones were pressed tin not cast alloy.
  7. Picked up some more air cooled (ET) bits today. I know some bits fit both the 7 and 11 but others are different. Is there a difference between the cast alloy rear peg hangers? I thought they were the same on 11’s and 7’s…. but maybe not. Anyone know for sure?
  8. The previous owner who did the mods to it saw a post of mine and replied so I got a bit more info.
  9. Thanks for the comments and feedback. The spares will come in handy as I’ve dragged the other engineless G out of storage too. There’s also a Mk-1 Blandit 12 that may donate it’s motor if the back and front ends go to my ET build. Im about 4 months away from being able to get stuck into everything again, Certainly looking forward to being on some Old Skool cool.
  10. Mods would if I posted it, I fell into that trap before! Started going through the spares, airbox, new air and oil filter, complete carbs, carbs in bits, new front sprocket, new coil, spare clocks and surround, fairing support etc. I’m a bit of a hoarder so everything will get squirrelled away. The guy chucked in a paddock stand too.
  11. I will go over it when I get the chance, but from what I was told…. SRAD front end with Wilbers internals. SRAD rear wheel. 36 or 38mm flatslides. Several new wheel / steering etc bearings. Airtech tail. 85 - 750 tank and fairing. Only stuff I was told needed attention was the wiring under the seat / tail and the play in the suspension rocker arm. The price was close enough that I’m not going to stress if it needs anything else doing and I have another rolling engineless Slabbie and a complete Bandit 12 if I need to use them. I was actually looking for something quite different for something else I’m doing but this one came up and just appealed to me.
  12. Yes. Jimjambandit did a thread when he bought it a couple of years back mostly as it is now. He added the flatslides, tidied up the clocks, did a few jobs on it and had it set up. It hasn’t been used in a while.
  13. Haven’t had a good look or been through this one, only had it a few hours. Big day out, now crashed on the sofa. Needs a few little jobs doing, has a few nice bits.
  14. Thanks. I already have another ET and some other projects. If I drop on any trick or flash bits they will go on my other bike and I’ll use it’s parts on this build. If they are budget / rough bits they’ll go on the Orange / Blue bike (a few folk have said “don’t paint and polish it) My other ET has been on here before.
  15. Very useful post. Perfect timing. I’ve started digging out ET parts for another build but I have a 750 frame. Motor will be air or oil cooled 1100. Good info about the spindle. I need an arm so I’m guessing I can use either with a bit of work, bore frame or sleeve the arm. I’m told a few have used Blandit 12 arms.
  16. I’m doing a lot of homework into a forced induction big bore Suzuki. As a comparison mentioned above, the H2 really isn’t a comparison. It has the most complicated / clever / nightmare of an electric set up I’ve ever seen, yes, anything from 220 to 260hp even from the ‘tame’ and very useable 998cc SX I own and the sports H2 is higher, but it’s a VERY high tech bike, and funny enough, the most powerful H2 around runs an aftermarket turbo and not its factory supercharger. Sorry for a drift off topic but the H2 was mentioned and it’s very different in several ways to adding a supercharger to a Suzuki.
  17. Interesting info. Thanks folks. Ive had my eye for a Kat frame (in Brisbane) but haven’t found anything suitable. I do have an ET frame though. No rush, I’ll keep looking but threads like this are interesting.
  18. Previous owner did them. Home made using some original parts and some DIY. They work well and don't stand out. All mods are period correct or at least subtle.
  19. 14 front pipes don't flow that well. Its common to use a full system like a Akro or Yoshi to let the 14 breath. I have a Yoshi Cyclone on mine. On the 14 forum a member recently fitted twin 14 cans (from an early model, later 14's had a 4 into 1) on his 1100 Katana.
  20. I have Busa masters on Renthals, the angle they sit at isnt great. Although they may both work I'd prefer Bandit ones on flat bars and Busa ones on slopping clip-on's (if that makes sense?)
