Bubba1135 Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Clutch is going in my efe have been looking at an APE trac king kit with an extra plate, since I did the big bore mines always slipped when cold so wondered if anyone had tried one of these,or do I just go for an ebc kit. Quote
Pedda Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 How big bore is your efe then? Got a 1230 whith stock plates which is fine. When I had a ebc kit in, it slipped, so went back to stock. 1 Quote
Bubba1135 Posted August 9, 2015 Author Posted August 9, 2015 1230 with different carbs & a set of stage 1 cams. Quote
Pedda Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I'd go for stock setup then. Just make sure to soak the friction plates in oil before installing them. But I bet I'm just stating the obvious just like checking the steel plates if they're still within tolerances... 3 Quote
Duckndive Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Stick with stock fibres and steels........and as said soak in oil overnite before fitting.............. 1 Quote

johnr Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 barnett kevlar plates are the best feeling clutch plates i ever used. not cheap but they feel like nothing else, they do not slip or drag and i couldnt ever make mine misbehave. seriously, if youre keeping the bike theyre worth absolutely every penny. 1 Quote
Bubba1135 Posted August 12, 2015 Author Posted August 12, 2015 Had the old girl 18 year now don't think we will be parting ways for a long time ☺ Quote
Blower1 Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Get the steel plates level grinded and use the original fibres. Even the new unused oem steels have a small bumps, from 0.01 to 0.05mm.Grinding them down makes the clutch working a much better = more even pressure and bigger contact surface.I had some issues with clutch drag and slight slipping on cold engine. After one machine shop level grinded my clutch steel plates no clutch drag & slipping anymore. My efe is 1327 with supercharger and MTC lock up clutch Quote
Locomotion Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 Thats interesting about having the metal plates ground, wouldn't this reduce the stack height. Obviously it hasn't affected your clutch. I have clutch drag on my powerscreen and everything is in spec so maybe worth ago next time I change the oil Quote
KATANAMANGLER Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Gav I have OEM friction plates and steels in mine and it never slips. 1230 and RS 36s. Pulls like a train with no issues. 2 Quote
Screwriverracing Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 I have always shot blasted the steels, makes them grip the plates better.Always used stock plates nothing better.cheers SRR Quote
