Weapon Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Hi guys. new member here. read the rules. hah! loved the rules!I pretty much have only owned old suzukis, well except for one yamahaha but that was a dirt bike so it doesn't count.I bought this one when I was a youngster about 25 years ago lolstill have it although its pretty rough from sittingI will be addressing it this winter.this is my current bike. bought two years ago looked like thisnot perfect but pretty well maintained by the original owner. rode it two summers. then decided to do some work to it.it started with swing arm bearing and just sort of snowballed. here is a few pics of whats been happening. hope you enjoyand this is where we are now, just waiting for a few more parts to get it finished up and rolling again. 2 Quote

Weapon Posted August 6, 2015 Author Posted August 6, 2015 (edited) I will. on both sites. not a lot to report today but my cheapo headlight brackets arrived so now I can finish up the bike. starting with getting all those wires back into the headlight bucket also my sh775 arrived so tomorrow I can start to clean up some of the wiring under the seat. need to make a mount for that regulator. its huge.  contrast pic. Weapon Posted August 7, 2015 Author Posted August 7, 2015 (edited) well, I got all the wires stuffed back into the headlight everything except the ballast for my hid headlight gonna have to balloon it or something I doubt it survives the weather otherwise.also got my new sh775 mounted and cleaned up all the bastardised wiring under the seat. relocated the fuse block to the rear mudguard for now will see how it goes. repaired the quick fix the PO did to the fuse block plug when it melted. all the wires cut and new connectors soldered on and replaced the fuse block with one that isn't all melted to shit lol. I guess the PO didn't know about eliminating the headlight shunt from the stator and had some melty moments once the connections got bad. never mind the oddball screws home depot was closed going to buy one of these for the kat as well later. happily though, my katana has never suffered from the melting fuse block wires and eating stators and reg/recs. Weapon Posted August 9, 2015 Author Posted August 9, 2015 back down on the ground first time in quite a while. Quote
Weapon Posted August 15, 2015 Author Posted August 15, 2015 Just back from its first shakedown cruise. It sure handles different with that 16 inch front . don't think I like the factory clip-ons either to much turn in, kinda like riding a wheel barrow . I will probably put the aftermarket clip-ons on. The front forks need some nitrogen but other than that it feels ok. the rear wheel is about 6mm offset from the front but I cant feel a difference in the turning. I will get some new spacers made though just the same. all in all I am very happy with the end result.my jbweld repair on the side cover didn't hold. what do guys use to glue those mount pins back on? jb kwik weld didn't work. Weapon Posted September 9, 2015 Author Posted September 9, 2015 well I have been riding it about a month now and no issues at all. I love the way it handles now that I am used to it. very happy with the end result. 3 Quote

Weapon Posted September 20, 2015 Author Posted September 20, 2015 nothing new to report with this bike. I haven't made any more changes to it. I am just riding it and enjoying it until the seasons over. I am going to retrieve my katana from storage today though. stay tuned for the long drawn out rebuild thread Quote
Weapon Posted October 26, 2015 Author Posted October 26, 2015 I ordered a set of these to try them out. cheap enough hoped they wouldn't be too bad. well above expectations! I have never had an easier clutch pull on any of my 1100s or 1150s. and the master works really well too, lots of lever not mushy at all. I will order another set for my katana. if you don't care about the factory appearance I highly recommend these.http://r.Eblag.com/qdPPon Quote
Kenneth Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Those look good, was looking for short levers so these will do me perfect Quote
skunkrider2 Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 OMG get the Kat done. (still don't look in too bad shape) Its crying out to be back on the road. 1 Quote
Weapon Posted October 27, 2015 Author Posted October 27, 2015 hah! it is ya. its going to be a long road for that one though. I want to blast the frame, check for rust and gusset it all. so it has to come right apart. kat might see the road the end of next summer.......maybe.......:Smean time this is still a fun bike to ride 1 Quote
