Nate
Hello all, just picked up a new project and a friend directed me to this forum. It's my second Suzuki after a brief stint riding a nice little GS500 after I passed my test. The project is a Hard Up hardtail frame with a GSX1100 EZ lump fitted. It came with the donor frame and loom but little else - I'll be picking everyone's brains about parts compatibility and electronics soon! Edited July 15, 2017 by Nate 2 Quote Link to comment

wraith
Welcome to OSS. Nice start, looks like gsxr wheels and forks 1 Quote Link to comment
Nate
Thanks for that, I did wonder what they were from. Currently poring over the half chopped up loom that came with the donor frame...might start a project thread later 1 Quote Link to comment
wraith
Sounds like a good idea, if your OK a wiring, I'd start from scratch. May be quicker/esayer. Quote Link to comment

That might be worth a shout...can't find this plug anywhere in the diagram and it looks to me like an ECU plug or something? Quote Link to comment

Brilliant mate thanks very much, it was doing my head in! Is it worth trying to adapt this loom do you think? Or just punt it and buy the right one? 2 hours ago, teltwosheds said: Hmm, HUC frame, stay away from speed bumps . Oh, and welcome Oh I'm used to avoiding speed bumps, I'm a fan of idiotically low cars myself lol. Cheers Quote Link to comment
no class
Seeing how you are going minimalist on this bike..... best to make a loom without all the bells and whistles.....you could keep the one you have and remove all the non-essentials. 2 Quote Link to comment

That was my intention...so if I go down this route, would the ECU (CDI? Ignitor?) from any 82-83 GSX1100 work? The ones I see for sale don't mention a model number, only the years. Sorry for the pop quiz, I just don't want to waste any of my bike budget! 1 Quote Link to comment

Use a dynatek ignition, wont need the CDI etc then and will minimalise your wiring to absolute bare bones..... 1 Quote Link to comment

Jonboy
I have a GSX1100ET engine in a GS1000 frame using a modded GS1000 loom which originally had points and condensers, Dynatek unit is a bout £100 but such a better unit for older engines, big fat blue sparks 1 Quote Link to comment
Nate
I can only find it for £150-160, I'll keep an eye out though. It seems to get good reviews across the board Quote Link to comment
wraith
They are a grate bit of kit, just 3 wires 1 positive 1for 1/4 coil and 1for 2/3 coil. Quote Link to comment
