Blue Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 What would be the reason an earth lead is getting hot whilst turning engine over? Quote
badger Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 Bad contact, corroded wire/ connector. Knackered/ worn/ broken wire. Solenoid making a wank contact Probably some other stuff 2 Quote
Screwriverracing Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 Bad earth, high resistance, means more load , load = heat. Cheers SRR 1 Quote

Blubber Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 Too thin gauge wire used? Bad crimps? Can happen even with new wires Quote
Blue Posted June 16, 2017 Author Posted June 16, 2017 Panic over, I tested battery terminal to engine & got 0.02v then noticed bolt holding eye in place was loose doh! 2 Quote
Screwriverracing Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 So as said bad connection = high resistance = load=HEAT. simple ohms law. cheers SRR Quote
