clivegto Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Filled up with petrol today then when riding down the road I noticed fuel spilling out from around the filler cap so as I wasn't far from home I went home slowly. Strangely enough all it was were the Allan head bolts were all 1/4 of a turn loose so an easy fix. Bike has been sat outside in the sun for the last 3 days and ride hard yesterday, that's the only thing I can think that's different apart from the UK torques one way breather. 2 Quote
clivegto Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Well I can report back now on the machined down k9 wheel and sprocket carrier with cut down cush drive rubbers as well has stood up to a few thousand miles and other various shenanigans without any damage whatsoever 7 Quote

Can't remember now but think it I took 5mm of the cush drive rubbers, machined both sides of the sprocket carrier and the wheel as well as the bearing spacer, turned thee back sprocket round and used a 525 chain. From memory I gained 8 to 10mm clearance with a 190 tyre. Pic with 1 standard cush rubber fitted for example. 1 Quote
clivegto Posted September 5 Posted September 5 New tyre fitted, gone for a 190/55 17 this time. Pic of cush rubbers fitted to wheel for @jonny1bump 2 Quote

clivegto Posted September 6 Posted September 6 (edited) Pie run to butcher up north west of me to scrub the new tyre in. 46psi seems a bit hard round our local roads. Reduced to 38 late in the afternoon (might try it slacker that that) which was loads better for my riding style. 55 tyre is smoother in quick corners but definitely more unstable at high speeds. caferacerdan Posted September 8 Posted September 8 46? I don't think I've ever ran higher than 36 on my lot...but then again back tyre's don't last long for me for some reason...never been through a front tyre though Quote

The tire shop must looked at your bike and thought it was gold wing with 6 months of luggage and a rather large passenger and riding mega slow or something for that pressure. 3 Quote
Dezza Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Sounds like the tyre fitter may have forgot to reduce the pressure after seating the tyre post-fitting. Quote
DAZ Posted September 9 Posted September 9 What tyres did you use before ? I had Dunlops on a speed triple and thought they had quite a firm carcass compared with the metzlers which felt plush on bumpy back roads .... Quote

Michelin road 5 before that Metzler Z8 and before those Pirelli Diablo supercorsas. The sports touring tyres last longer have good grip in the corners and better grip in the wet than the sports tyres. Although riding a turbo bike in the wet is a bit like riding on ice 3 Quote
