bernardo Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 Any recommendations for someone to make up some brake hose, braided by preference. Hose is an odd length thanks Bernard Quote
Jaydee Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 Venhill would be a safe bet. Plenty of options with the choice of fittings. Go for a pvc coating as it'll protect the brittle overbraid. http://www.venhill.co.uk/Hoses_&_Cables_-_Custom/Custom_Brake_and_Clutch_Lines Quote

rustychain Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 so easy to make your own ... any length you want 2 Quote
Del Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 (edited) As above, make your own.Easy to do and all parts are available online(Torques,Eblag, etc, etc) Or even better,is look on Eblag for a bargain.Picked up a bnib(never fitted)set of 3 black HEL hoses and banjo bots for £17 buy now, even had the sticker. They were originally made for a Hardley 883,but were the exact length we needed for the slabby clutch and front brakes. Some people think parts are make specific and won't fit anything else. Good example of this is end cans. There are loads that are listed as r6/1,blade,blandit etc and not alot of people buy them because they think it is brand specific With modification, anything will fit anything Edited July 31, 2016 by Del 2 Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 I had a kaw***ki 125 moto-crosser front brake hose on a b12 as a clutch hose, exactly the right length plastic coated and cost £1.99. plus post on ebog 1 Quote
bernardo Posted July 31, 2016 Author Posted July 31, 2016 Thanks for that, I like the idea of making my own. I thought I'd need a specialised swager Quote
t3rse Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Where might one get the proper tool for the job? Quote
Gixer1460 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Brakehoses don't need to be swaged! DIY build will need a sharp fine bladed hacksaw or Dremel cut off wheel, a sharp knife to de-bur the teflon inner hose, some masking tape, a 7/16 or 1/2" spanner and a metal vise - thats it! 1 Quote
bernardo Posted August 1, 2016 Author Posted August 1, 2016 Well I had a look last night and you can buy hoses and banjos for a fraction of the price of "bespoke" ones. Though if can someone post a how to, as gixer1460 describes, I'd be obliged. Couldn't find anything on the net but I do have a vise and a dremel (clone). If nothing else this thread has saved me some cash (looking at the pile of crocks in my garage) Quote
Gixer1460 Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Loads!......... Try this one - https://www.oldbritts.com/brake_line.html They have a nice alloy hose clamp, i've managed using the vee in a workmate for years, or without using a Dremel. The one thing that MUST BE DONE is ensure the olive is seated right down on to the inner pipe. I usually tap it on with small hammer then holding the hose, olive end down, smack the olive face against the bench to drive it on - you'll see the inner clearly when its fully home. And that's it! PS - don't forget to put the 'nut' on the pipe, over the masking wrap, before cutting / flaring - you won't do it after - Trust me! Quote
markfoggy Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 I'll just leave this here. http://www.Eblag.co.uk/itm/Clear-Transparent-Heat-Shrink-Tube-Sleeve-/311656712353?var=610578353569&hash=item48903008a1:m:mUhxQb0AbgcbxU2Z2ylLUwg Quote
