Going to turbo my 7/12 covid 50 project. It's going to be using a blandit 12 motor and I think the turbo is a td25 (bought ages ago Eblag special) does anybody have a list of parts needed for doing this. As in fuel pumps, oil scavengers etc .........gonna start collecting and get on with it. Cheers for any help

Are you staying with carbs?

Headers, turbo, silicone joiners and Mikalor clamps, pound notes, air filter, oil feed for turbo, up pipe, dump valve, plenum, money tree, various vac pipes, decent fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel lines, more money, malpassi pressure reg (for carbs) fuel take off and a return welded into your tank, scavenge pump of the turbo drain, lock up clutch and cover and some form of boost control.

All that assuming your engine is prepped for boooooost!

Here you go: https://www.proboost.fi/motorcycle-turbo-kits

Even if you aren't going to get a kit that gives you some idea.

That's a good price for the GSX kits considering the exchange rate.

The warnings they have to put on the website make me chuckle

Yes, I think their kits offer pretty good value for the money. Sure you can build similar kit cheaper. Assuming that you know what you are doing and can make everything by yourself. But in reality you can easily end up spending more.

Well, they sell the kits worldwide, including USA :P

I think I'm in the same position as many in that putting the kit together, getting it running etc I can do myself. The sticking point is TIG welding aluminium for the plenum, and stainless for the headers. Once you outsource those then the mark up on the other bits as a kit seems a small consideration.

That's exactly what I meant. Then add few milled or turned parts that you have to outsource and maybe re-doing some of welded parts. Suddenly total is more than the kit...

Just got a 1127 L motor, would the gsxr or the bandit motor be a better starting point for a turbo build (busa pistons etc)?

Blandit has thicker liners so better for 1216 bore

Help needed on turbo manifold set up, Have you any idea what tig rod is used for welding the standard  internal waste gate closed. Now stupid question where is your take off for the waste gate (external). Also which way round is the waste gate fitted valve head toward manifold or away from manifold (presume toward head toward exhuast manifold ........but could be wrong) cheers

Why not just use the standard internal gate? Unless you've got no room or need more accurate boost control theres very little to be gained from an external gate other than pub points

Turbo welded up now for external waste gate. Manifold sorted (put some bracing webs in as well) plenum chamber knocked together .......gotta rethink pitot tube as it's cloating everything lol

On with redesigning the plenum chamber (clearance issues) this weekend and sorting the up pipework etc, next question do I need to alter float heights and what's a good starting point for the jetting

If its all working correctly the pitot air boost will equal the intake boost over the fuel so std or slightly richer jetting should be good - if you have a AFR meter then aim for 12.5:1 on boost. If you have to go richer than that - in my opinion - something in the build / cooling / set-up is wrong! If you had a dialled in, DJ stg 3 (for example) running NA, it will work with Boost for a ballpark tune.

Cheers pal .........I thought for turbo use it was recommended to use standard carb set not dynajet
