clivegto Posted August 19 Author Posted August 19 Fitted the turbo motor Gary wasn't kidding when he said a 1200 motor was tight in this frame. Be able to do chain alignment now. 14 Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted August 20 Posted August 20 There should be some blood on the frame rail, form where it squashed my finger getting the engine OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2 Quote

clivegto Posted August 20 Author Posted August 20 Fitted some turbo headers I had laying around and a little turbo that came from Banzie for a upgrade for the Turbo Scratcher, but I just turned the boost up on that . Removed the locating pin to spin the cold side round. Turbo is tight to the motor, was planning on using an external waist gait anyway. Would like to use an intercooler on this, and would you belive I have one of those kicking about of wheelie kids old slingshot. Just on as mockup this evening. 15 Quote
caferacerdan Posted August 21 Posted August 21 That intercooler looks at home on that setup, as it angles nicely away from the forks! Love it! 1 Quote
davecara Posted August 21 Posted August 21 If that's the cooler I think it is, it was originally on a drag turbo bandit called 'Spin Cycle' It wasnt on Kevs but It did briefly appear on the Slingy turbo drag bike that Ben @Torqueseekerbuilt 1 Quote

Knife edge motor didn't come with a clutch so I removed one from Hotel engine shed where @Dezmeisterslept last weekend . Fitted it to the Martin's knife edge along with a b12 lockup clutch from another project that Gsxrsam made. Had a MTC spacer plate hanging on the wall and a two breather clutch cover in my box of stuff. Also bought some Big CC cases of @Jdeacrecently that look good on this I think. 10 Quote
Jdeac Posted August 21 Posted August 21 Can't wait to see how that motor performs in this setup Quote

It's about how it gets there not how powerful it is for me, which will be awesome with this light weight frame but I'm very aware of the weight I'm adding to the project as well. clivegto Posted August 22 Author Posted August 22 Experimenting with a intercooler bracket this evening. 5 Quote
clivegto Posted August 23 Author Posted August 23 (edited) So this is what I've come up with to mount the intercooler, it appears to be really secure but I'll probably get some mounting points welded onto the bottom to stop it vibrating and cracking the top mounts. Drilled and taped the lock stops on the bottom yoke then fitted some bolts to stop the forks hitting the intercooler. Edited August 23 by clivegto 9 Quote

From some angles it looks too big, from others it looks too high, then you see it from another and it looks spot on and in proportion. The overall line of the bike looks really good. Quote
clivegto Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 Ordered some stainless allen head bolts for the engine cases. Made my own set up only had to cut 3 length then polished them up a bit with the drill and grinder finished off with some fine glass paper. I'd also ordered gaskets for the cases which I greased up before fitting. Had to make some little dowels up for the cases as there were a few missing. Engine should be oil tight now. 9 Quote
clivegto Posted September 4 Author Posted September 4 Well from having no 34mm carbs for this I now have 2 sets one from an 1100f and the other from a 1052. There isn't a lot of room between the frame rails for carbs that's why I wanted to use 34's and they have steel tops the won't blow to bitz when boosted. 2 Quote
Dezza Posted September 4 Posted September 4 (edited) Looks like you get a little more space with the slabby carbs seeing as they have those strange top bracket thingies rather than the usual rail. I get now why you wanted some BST34s . Edited September 5 by Dezza 1 Quote
