SMARTY Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 Hi hope you all well. Any idea on compatible heads and cams - trying to widen my options looking for replacement parts. the motor is 1982 ish gsx1100 Quote
Gixer1460 Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 All AC 1100 heads will fit / work with all 1100 bottom ends - even 1100 OC heads fit and can be made to work. EFE / 1150 heads generally liked for cleaner styling but no great performance gain. Lots of aftermarket cams available if performace required - std cams meh! Quote
imago Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 A 'go to' improvement on the earlier heads is to fit the larger valves from the EF. Only worth doing if you're changing carbs and exhaust, and preferably adding a big bore kit to get the most from it all. Whatever head you go for make sure it comes with its own cam caps. 1 Quote
Rijko Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 (edited) Others here have way more experience with the GS110X engine, but these engines suffer from twisted cranks when souped up. So as far as i understand if upping power, welding the crank is the first thing to do. Suzuki welded the crankpins from 1983 on afaik. Edited August 16, 2023 by Rijko Quote
slayer61 Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 Agreed. Mine is an '83 and it has the welded crank 1 Quote
rodneya Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 Can that damage to the journals be repaired? Quote

Rijko Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 What are you looking for ? There's a head for sale in Germany with all new and gofast stuff, larger valves, cams with slotted wheels, oil supply modified, etc. Ran only for 500 km ... 700 Euro + shipping, a steal ! Quote
jameskat Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Don't know if it is still for sale, and requires some work, but it is desirable. Quote

Rijko Posted August 19, 2023 Posted August 19, 2023 Nice bike ! I may buy that head after all then, that stuff gets rarer by the day. And for a ported head with new valve guides and valves the price is way less than the price of new valves, let alone the work on it Quote
