Jdeac Posted October 4, 2022 Author Posted October 4, 2022 What's a v711 code then??? I believe I'm ready to split. Removed all bolts and put them in some empty cases. There is a few sneaky ones. For the ones that don't know 1 Quote
Jdeac Posted October 4, 2022 Author Posted October 4, 2022 Watch out for this little bugger in the neutral switch aswell Quote

Jdeac Posted October 4, 2022 Author Posted October 4, 2022 Can't remember which member said about this. But pics for whoever needs them. Small nut on the 1 bolt 1 Quote
Jdeac Posted October 4, 2022 Author Posted October 4, 2022 Left and right selector forks to the output shaft. Middle to the clutch Quote
Jdeac Posted October 4, 2022 Author Posted October 4, 2022 Lift off. Watch out for the crank shells. 2 have stayed in the centre of the crank. Others in the lower case Quote
clivegto Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 (edited) Haynes manual is very helpful, ti's what I followed the first time I stripped the bottom end. Ooppse missed the second page lol. Edited October 4, 2022 by clivegto Quote
Jdeac Posted October 4, 2022 Author Posted October 4, 2022 This is what I'm seeing. This is all being done because the bike is jumping out of 2nd gear. With @davecaraon the other end of what's app Quote
Captain Chaos Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 I once had an 1100L (1990) with V711 engine Quote
Jdeac Posted October 4, 2022 Author Posted October 4, 2022 I'm sure when I brought the bike dan said it was an 1100 k model. With the better cams Quote
Gixer1460 Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 Those dogs deffo need an undercut - not surprised it's jumping out of 2nd as it gets mucho abuse! Quote
Jdeac Posted October 4, 2022 Author Posted October 4, 2022 Not wanting to confuse myself as this is my first time @Gixer1460 what does that entail? I see one side is cut in a little. Be it the good side. Compared to the not so good. 1 side up shift other down shift. Air shifter being used Cost wise and benefit where would I be?? Quote
Gixer1460 Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 Undercutting helps the dogs 'lock in' when under power and most OEM gears have a degree of undercut but when racing it can be insufficient. An engine builder / transmission shop should be able to do the work which is fairly precise to match angles between gears and around the dogs so they all contact at same time. That dog ring does seem somewhat battered / worn out. I'm not strong into gearboxes - to many iddy biddy pieces so I leave it to peeps who know better! Quote
clivegto Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 I had the same problem with one of my engines jumping out of 2nd gear it was the dogs that were rounded of on 2nd and 5th gears. I replaced them with new Suzuki ones. I belive the gsxr1100m/n and B12 ones are slightly undercut as new. Quote

As the K had the better "IMO" coil spring clutch so from the pics you posted i,d say its an 1100L motor ... Normal 2nd and 5th carnage ........The Gears on later M , N models had a better undercut on the gears ... You can mix and match gear,s from all the 1127 & 1157 motors "well i have" i think the water boilers use the same box as well It's worth checking on robinsons site as the gears sometimes pop up on sale...and i've bought good complete gearbox,s of ebog for not much $$ 1 Quote
inmate Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 Thanks for this info @DuckndiveI asked the question in this forum earlier. Maybe I can make up a decent gearbox from used gears with new bearings. Quote
Jdeac Posted October 5, 2022 Author Posted October 5, 2022 @Duckndiveb12 stuff work?? Not seeing alot ox boxes for sale Quote
Duckndive Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 Just now, Jdeac said: @Duckndiveb12 stuff work?? Not seeing alot ox boxes for sale i,ve got a mixture of B12 gears and GSXR bits in mine... one of the B12 bearings is different and there are minor input shaft differences "length" but they can all be made to work Frankenstein's guide covers most of it Quote
