Don't think they will fit a standard frame but might fit my Spondon, will find out tomorrow. Quote

Still interested if they don't fit your Spondon frame. Quote

Still interested if they don't fit your Spondon frame. I made my turbo headers for my Magnum 2 as the frame down tubes are quite wide apart. Only tools I used were my mig welder and my grinder did take about 2 weeks of evenings but you can do it yourself. Quote
clivegto Posted February 23, 2023 Author Posted February 23, 2023 As @Jdeac said with his setup the cooler mounts would need moving. With this setup the cooler will need moving which I planned to do anyway. @Wagolasorry I'll be using these on this, I don't think they would fit a Magnum frame without major alterations any way. 1 Quote
clivegto Posted February 24, 2023 Author Posted February 24, 2023 Cut the bottom oil cooler mount of, fitted the headers. Turbo I was going to use has a different flange to the headers, just roughly bolted on to give an idea of space. 3 Quote

clivegto Posted February 25, 2023 Author Posted February 25, 2023 (edited) After reading @Havocpost and chatting with him about fixing abs plastic panels I bought some Mek (let the chemistry begin ) now this stuff dissolves abs plastic especially if you cut it up into little pieces. So that's exactly what I did with the front bit of the side panel I'd cut off. Right hand side panel where the brake reservoir window is was busted and I don't need the window anyway. Filled it in with the Mek and mix and have also started to rebuild a busted tab on the back light surround. I have to say it does work amazingly well if you have the patience. . Be careful of the MEK though, the RAF banned it's use over 20 years ago Quote

Dezza Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Isn't MEK the key chemical component of paint strippers that actually work, i.e. NOT anything now available from a DIY shop, the stuff labelled as 'industrial/professional' use? It must be highly volatile because decent paint stripper goes off pretty quickly so unless a lot is needed for a particular job there's no point in buying more than 1litre at a time. Quote
DAZ Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Don't know about the paint stripper application but I know when I used to collect from industrial printers they used it as a cleaning solution so if it dissolves plastics as well just be fearsome stuff Quote

I keep mine in a coffee jar with a tight lid. I'm still using the original mix 4 years later. As long as the solvent component can't evaporate, it'll stay useable. I have added a little more MEK perhaps annually, to soften it up a bit. I just kept adding ABS pellets to the MEK until it reached a consistency I thought looked like it'd do the job. I added the pellets slowly over a couple of days. Edited February 27, 2023 by Havoc 1 Quote

clivegto Posted March 15, 2023 Author Posted March 15, 2023 The MEK ABS mix has worked really well rebuilding the back light surround, almost like magic . Quote
clivegto Posted March 15, 2023 Author Posted March 15, 2023 One of the side panel mushroom's was busted off as well but there was a good one intact on the piece of panel I cut off. Wized it off with a slicing disc, filed it down and the back of the panel then just stuck it on with the MEK ABS mix, easy peasy . 1 Quote
