Tony Nitrous Posted November 13, 2015 Author Posted November 13, 2015 I'd like to widen the frame enough to take a GSX14 arm and a 6" wheel so I can run any tyre / chain combo with plenty of clearance. I'd like stock ET bodywork. In reality, nothing is set in stone. I have a heap of ET parts with a half done 1370 kit, Busa wheels, a complete Bandit 12 and a GSXR1100G (minus engine) I'm happy to use. I'm going to do some measuring and have a chat to a few folk about cutting the frame. Quote

Tony Nitrous Posted November 13, 2015 Author Posted November 13, 2015 Going to look into how much work is involved in cutting and widening the frame by approx 14mm across the swingarm area. To take a stock GSX1400 swingarm and have more chain clearance. Similar to what 370Steve has done on his but aim for an extra couple of mm.Im not sure if its been done before? There may be a good reason why not! Quote
Kenneth Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Best of luck. Widening a frame should be straight forward just make up a jig to keep everything true.anything can be done with a grinder and some welding Quote
Pedda Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Haha, these are the kinda mock-ups we like to have us motivated, aren't they? How many beers did you have looking at this? 4 Quote
Tony Nitrous Posted November 14, 2015 Author Posted November 14, 2015 (edited) Beers? I wish! Haven't had one in 8 years 3 months.Bikes and travel eat up every penny i have and I'm quite capable of making dumb decisions stone cold sober! Edited November 14, 2015 by Tony Nitrous 2 Quote

vizman Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 nah the dog's just checking one of the three bikes he won't piss on. Quote
Gammaboy Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Talk to Lynton Tony, his jig table would be right up that sort of alley - or take it to Nick at NiCom down at logan-ish.And if you see another GSX750 frame for $100 let me know (or an Slabby 750 frame!) 1 Quote

Been chatting with Lynton on ASF. He has 4 Zed frames to do on the new jig then mine might be next.No 750 slabbie frames, but I did get this roller as it is for $200 (£80) off Bob on ASF... 3 Quote
KATANAMANGLER Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Plenty to be getting on with there. Quote
Tony Nitrous Posted November 16, 2015 Author Posted November 16, 2015 Plenty to be getting on with there.I picked up a 1999 Bandit 12 a while back. A cheap runabout from Eb#y, out in the sticks just before Xmas, a crap ad, no one else bid ! Not used it much recently, so its most likely going to be a donor for the ET. 1 Quote
vizman Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 useful donor bike, sell off the shite bits to fund more ol'skool funk for the et? 2 Quote

Bugger about Nicom - he was much better to deal with than Dave Kellet. Would love a slabby 750, but an 1100 would work too - what's your plan for it? Quote
Tony Nitrous Posted November 17, 2015 Author Posted November 17, 2015 Not sure. Bandit motor nearly went into it. I've bid on a few donor bikes at the auctions and Egay. It'll be another project one day. Quote
Gammaboy Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Sell it to me - you'll have less projects to worry about ! Quote
