Jdeac Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 Hi all. Just a quick question. I know people use the ti downpipes from the k1-3 gsxr. But has anyone used the micron serpant downpipes. This would be for a slingy frame with 750 1100 or b12 motor. Advise appreciated. Pipes below as you all like pics Cheers Quote
Swiss Toni Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 Nice looking pipes. They look as if they’ll be a closer fit underneath than the Ti ones! Quote
Jdeac Posted December 18, 2020 Author Posted December 18, 2020 I was thinking frame clearance at the head. 1 Quote
TonyGee Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 looking at the pic's i'd say the exhaust ports are at a steeper angle Quote

Jdeac Posted December 18, 2020 Author Posted December 18, 2020 They wont fit a bandit. As the 2 inner pipes hit the cross brace under the cooler. The 2 inner pipes are a slight different shape aswell. Was thinking about changing route and building a slingy. As I have a bandit on the road. And 1 project bandit. And now fancy a slingy Quote
Jdeac Posted December 18, 2020 Author Posted December 18, 2020 That's with all collets lined up Quote
Dezza Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 Have they been removed from a crashed bike or are they meant to be squashed like that? Unless your engine is in a trick frame that has no cradle then they look to me as if they'd be a complete pain in the arse to get on because of the apparent reduced clearance between the pipes and the engine top end. 1 Quote
Jdeac Posted December 18, 2020 Author Posted December 18, 2020 @Dezzasupposed to be like that. B12 at the front serpant at the back. Quote
wraith Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 I like Dezza, think the problem you will have is fitting them with the down tubes of the frame cradle. Also the standard gsxr1000 pipes hang down quite a lot, so you may find you can't use the link pipe. you sometimes need to tweak them around the header's to get them to sit in the oil cooled ports. There is one way to find out 100% ,fit them and let us all know how it goes Quote

Jdeac Posted December 19, 2020 Author Posted December 19, 2020 Ah I do need to pick a stem up from him and heading near there mon/Tues @fatblokeonbandit Quote
Sandman Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 I think Micron serpent was a gimmick? If the benefits were as great as Micron claimed, then all exhaust systems today would have been produced in the same way? But I am no expert at all :-) Quote
bluedog59 Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 From what I understand, the serpent design had some worthwhile benefits but the R+D and manufacturing costs proved to be another nail in Micron's coffin. Quote
FJD Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 I had these headers on my Yamaha, and they were absolutely great, and gave very good power too Quote
