Romaz750R Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 Good evening all! First time overhauling engine on my 86 750. And of course a lot of questions arise during disassembley... manual says that before removing the crankshaft tightening bolts, need to remove oil gallery bolt. In my situation I have stripped hex in this bolt and have no instruments to remove it right now. So, the question is, is it correct to remove oil plug after separating crankcase? Go easy on me first time go so far into engine Quote
colinworth79 Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 Possibly need to remove to get the crankcase bolt out ( left one in pic ) Yes they always round off as there made of cheese . I normally get a chisel and put a notch in it then tap it round . 2 Quote

Lachie04 Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 I always thought they said that cause they're so hard to get out after you've split the cases is just easier when the engine together as it doesn't stop you getting at the crankcase bolts same with that oil relief plug bolt that's torqued up to like 70000 nm in the sump Quote
Dezza Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 (edited) I hate those fucking cap head plugs: they often round off and are then a pig to remove Edited August 28, 2020 by Dezza Quote
Swiss Toni Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Carry on with your stripdown. Once you’ve split the cases, lay them on a flat (kind to alloy castings) surface. Get your doughnut loving best pal to stand on the case, while you loosen the oilway plugs. Quote
Romaz750R Posted September 1, 2020 Author Posted September 1, 2020 As I thought, this plug just stuck over time. Angle cutting machine helped. So, big work ahead. Quote
jonny1bump Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 You don't actually need to remove it. At least you cam blow galleries easier i suppose. Quote
