  1. +1 for Mer ... but store it in the house ... it goes lumpy if it gets too cold in the garage or shed. Autosol is also brilliant, but find it cuts the surface much more than Mer which appears to be more gentle cleaning - so IMHO better for regular cleaning.
  2. Survival of the fittest? Essentially that has already happened in some quarters - RG500 engines for instance?
  3. How the hell do you get 200hp out of an aircooled motor?
  4. Can't argue with that opener - nice!
  5. Katana's come in one colour scheme of any note - Black, Grey and Silver I am of course biased!
  6. Oh fuck yes ... that's lovely ... definitely my next project will be unfaired and something similar. I have a GSX1100 motor that will be fettled, and all I need is everything else :O)
  7. Item: 5682023392 on the blag of e looks like the one I bought - though I found a UK supplier at the time - paid about 70 quid IIRC
  8. Here - thought process I had: Bullet proof = mosfet - runs coolest - most likely to last - and I can use it with the lithium hybrid wossname battery. Hon-dah replacement - pretty bullet proof, make sure you get the right one (there are different ones IIRC) and it will already be second hand when you get it as buying a new one is more expensive than the mosfet IIRC. Buy the replacement suzi one .. guaranteed to die sooner than the other options, defo bad idea with a lithium hybrid battery wossname and may result in your other components melting!!
  9. I looked at the Gurls blouse RR for my project ... but eventually opted for the Mosfet aftermarket RR. Not that costly but bullet proof.
  10. I mailed @porky yesterday - but he's been a little quiet of late. I do love that Kat he built and the engine and exhaust etc is pretty much where I intend to end up with mine.
  11. LOL - I got a response from them! Not very helpful! I said " Looking at the legend system for my Katana - it started life as a 750 import frame but I replaced the GSX lump with a GSXR1100M 1127 oilblower (will eventually be bored to high compression Wiseco based 1216, & flowed, kent cams) I'll be running with Mikuni flatslides, and expect around 150hp eventually - can you confirm what's the sound output of the exhausts in that sort of set up .. conscious of noise limits etc at trackdays. Can you also confirm how much I need to budget for the full titanium" They said, " Many thanks for your enquiry. Apologies for the delay in replying. Potentially yes no problem …..but we would need the bike in….. " I could assume he says - yes they can do that and that nosie is not an issue - but think a phone call would be better :o)
  12. Yup - that's the way I read things .
  13. The reason I ended up buying a Kat project - his Kat was what inspired me to get off my arse! @no class I have contact info if needed (He sells under trays amongst other things).. but a search for Lucky 7 and Steve Adams should yield you a contact.
  14. It looks low on 17 inch ... especially with a 4-1 exhaust. I used tl-s forks (735mm long from memory) and standard Ohlins SU143 shocks - and it handlles pretty damn well ... slow by modern standards but way quicker than 80's standards. Very stable on the track, and doesn't sit up mid corner on the brakes, can changes line, and surprisingly good. . You can get silly - in my mind I need I reckon 5-10mmm on the front and about 10-15 on the back. Not sure what spot on would be - and suspect that adjustable yokes would be needed, and it is quiet likely you could end up over whelming the frame ... but that depends how ahrd you ride etc etc and a million other factors... but that's just guessing! So just do and adjust later ;o) It's what everyone else does!
  15. Be warned ... this looks very messy! Read the comments also ... so good ideas in there. I haven't actually tried this, but got very close when cleaning carbs in the past. But decided a physical approach after aggressive ultrasonic cleaning, and scrubbing with a toothbrush was good enough for me ... but I am not trying to get a showbike ready :o)
  16. Soad/Vapour blasting works best - search youtube for home brew approach
  17. I've mailed them: Does the legend have an insert? Is it required for trackdays?
  18. Just spotted this in the FAQ section of their website ... doesn't say whether the legend can accept a NRI
  19. Does anyone have experience with GSXR 1127 (or 1216 high comp) on a Racefit Legend or equivalent full titanium pipe with foam filtered flatslides? Do they come under the 105 dB trackday limit?
  20. The welding on that is very neat. Those shock mounts are very forward and down over standard by the look. Interesting - when I get mine back in my garage, I shall have to take a look at what that would do to the geometry of the bike.
  21. Oooo just spotted this ... following. Damn I loved my mates X7 - it felt so quick compared to anything I had ridden to that point. Of course it self destructed and we rebuilt it ... then weekend after weekend set to wit ha file on the ports. We were convinced we were making it faster LOL ... it eventually had that , "classic for the period" sound with some allspeeds and a proper port job. That sound went something like .... bluuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrr [fx change down gear] blaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrr [Fx:change down gear again] braaahhh braaaahhh braaaaahhhhh
  22. I actually don't think the photos are as nice as it is in the flesh ... hope those carbs work out for you BTW.
  23. yes do ... if not in this thread ... another thread of it's own - would be interested to see the mods made to frame for the rear shocks.
  24. Wot @Swiss Toni said ... this does of course assume your frame and forks etc are all true. So while you are at it, it is worth taking some measurements point to point each side to confirm that your frame has not twisted.
