  1. I remember way back reading an article about formula ford racing that the top engine Builders would check crate loads of cams for the "one" where the tolerances in machining have a little more lift ,same with conrods find the lightest set, rocker arms that had the highest ratio, Etc the rest was used in engines for kit cars and series that allowed modification, mind you back then factory machining and assembly was nowhere near the standards of now or even the 2000s and a blueprinted engine had a definite improvement over a Friday afternoon or Monday morning one. I also read about acid porting, where they fill the ports with acid for an amount of time it dissolves the metal at a set rate ,and leaves a stock looking but larger port still with casting lines etc, just a bit bigger there's some sneaky buggers out there
  2. No not all Captain thank heavens for translation tools
  3. But a thorough decoke and a little lap dance for the valves will maximise what you've got ,what about slotted cam sprockets for timing the cams...
  4. Oh bloody hell, time for the left handed drill bits?
  5. Parles tu Anglais ? La plupart des utilisteurs sont anglophones ou anglophones
  6. Welcome to OSS. Well your lucky to have had the bike from new, know it's ins and outs, there is plenty of knowledge on here should you need help
  7. Your gs(x)750esd is air cooled the oil cooled gsxf 600/750 is also very wrongly know as a Katana in the Americas any looks like this
  8. I have seen where a penny washer was placed over the remains of the stud and welded to the stud as it allowed better access to weld, and then a nut welded to the washer might this help you ?
  9. I thought about this when you asked @davecara for that shortstroke 750 , in his thread about converting a 600 I jokingly said about putting a std 11/1200 head on the 750 to drop the compression for a turbo .....
  10. Glad your still about and still have your turbo bike,I found it first on katriders forum but that site is very quiet these days, thanks for the you tube links ,please keep us informed and up to date on your project,we all need a little out of the box inspiration now and then, and your bike and it's engine is something far from the normal gsxf

    Exhaust studs

Well I don't see why not as when you helicoil them you drill it out tap it and wind the helicoil in .... Just don't drill all the way though into the cam chest, found it done after chasing an oil leak on a 600...
  12. @fatblokeonbandit in his I'm a little teapot build described how he got a 180 in the earlier frame Bumped the project thread for you
  13. If the combustion chamber volume is close then I think it'll be a case of bolting it together, with a used head gasket, time the cams and turn it over with plastercine on the pistons squish maybe an issue depending on the size of piston dome Vs how small the chamber is in comparison it maybe the pistons dome hits the head if it's bigger than the chamber rather than valve interference whichever way you'll be leading from the front!!
  14. Have you got any old (or new) head gaskets 1 for a 600/750 longstroke and 1 for a 11/1200/750 short stroke , if so lay one on top or the other to find out if the studs and oil ways align,if so what sizes do the combust chamber measure are they similar.if not try using a 1200 bandit head on the s/stroke bottom end to lower the compression ready for a turbo.... kidding
  15. Thanks @yantosh just scanned through you pics, you've built a great bike man, those yokes and fork brace are really cool pieces, and the fit and finish looks great Damn missed the engine case on first look through...
  16. Damn that looks nice with the katana fairing, what's the seat ? Ducati monster ? Nice choice of baby blue too
  17. Happy days mate, I'm sure that you'll want the extra because it's bound to feel a bit slow after your turbo bikes.....till it gets one of its own......
  18. I think the issue with helical gears is they have a tendency to push apart under extreme loads, this can cause early bearing failure amongst other issues . In many competition cars straight cut gearboxes are a common upgrade one downside is that straight cut gears can be noisier than helical Clive beat me to it ya too cool for skool Clive.....
  19. Hi Clive a quick Google search on some mainly American gsxr sites, some seem to like the 600 or 750 intake cams in the exhaust side as a cheap high lift/longer duration cam upgrade claiming "3-6 hp up top" if you've got a cheap cam and have the top apart to do shims it might be worth it but I don't know if it's worth it for 3 hp otherwise ....
  20. Agree but it's pretty much the same engine and apart from the 88/89 teapots I think many 90's models shared the same 32 BST carbs, mk2 bandits and baboons arse teapots may vary possibly BSR with tps sensors like the 1200 bandit, but dyno jet kit is available for all I believe if that's the way stanman wishes to go
  21. I have seen the oil lines on a hardly rideable purged by bumping it on the starter but that's a roller bearing bottom end but hey more than one way to skin a cat
  22. @clivegto maybe able to help you out (he's building a 10/4 ) but it's a bit too new for this section
  23. Well you seem confident, and I understand that there is a residual oil film so to a degree I realise that with no load it should be ok ,hell I've had junky old cars that have had next to no oil pressure at idle and had the oil light flicker at low idle speeds but I never cared about them
