  1. where did the old skool Suzuki sticker on the tail peice come from ?
  2. 1216 kit uses the standard blocks liners . I think the bandit 12 had 1mm thicker liners so you would have to gain that clearance in the crankcase but not 100% sure . I have a bandit 12 block on the shelf that i can measure if some one else can check the gsxr block . I asume its a 1127 motor ?
  3. I removed the fuel sender and used that plate to fit a return pipe . Pipe wants to be a bigger bore than the feed and end above the fuel level as not to cause any restriction . Any restriction in the return will cause a rise in fuel pressure and flood the carbs .
  4. I always use new Suzuki o rings and if the tubes don't look perfect I replace them as well . A bit of silicon grease around the o ring will help it fit into the head .
  5. I had a bandit 12 with 1216 JE running 13.1 comp . Had this a road engine for a few years ran perfect. Was run always on super unleaded.
  6. my gsxr 1000 k4 has a digital readout for coolant , if you start it and then put your lid and gloves on it will be getting up to 50 c ish and about half a mile up the road its up to 80 where the stat opens and will run between 85-95 depending on traffic . Fan cuts in at 105 c . Think your gsxr should be roughly same for stat opening and running temps .
  7. where did you source some pistons ? and what did you run ?
  8. contacted Mr upperton today relining the block is ok but he cant get any low comp pistons in 85 mm , I cant believe I'm the first person to turbo a big block gsxr motor ?
  9. yes the O/D of the liner is 89mm or 3.5 inch
  10. you are lucky I never seem to come across anything like that when I have the spare cash .
  11. yeah I was going to phone him tomorrow about porting a cylinder head I have spare for this engine . Bit concerned that the block going to get damaged by post man pat as these blocks don't come up often
  12. there is not a lot in it if your going to change the pistons and cams . Bandit has a weak clutch that will want swapping for a gsxr unit . Gsxr 11 M has shims and there is not much choice of cams .
  13. I going to start building another gsxr 1100 engine using an ape block . I purchase the block with one of the liners damaged after a piston melted . Has anyone had a similar block re lined and by who ?
  14. very nice ash , how many harris' you got now ?
  15. also worth checking the slave cylinder isn't corroded and full of gunk . Once had this where you would be going fine then pull the clutch in to change down a gear and as you opened the throttle clutch would slip as the slave cylinder would just keep a small amount of force on the push rod
  16. my bandit , only crank cases carbs and cdi box remain from the original.
  17. with the standard fuel tap on my 1200 it just used to touch the aftermarket oil feeds to the rocker cover but changes to a pingle tap and more clearance .
  18. had problems uploading the pic last night , was going to say rocker cover clearance is not going to be much of a problem as I have to do that to the bandit
  19. ok as title , itching to do a new project this year , the turboed 1216 lump is coming out of the gia framed bandit to be replaced by a 1371 , so I've got a low mileage engine that I cant see the point of selling on as I'm not going to get back much of what it owes me ( had new gearbox and every bearing replaced1400 miles ago) so thinking of building something using this . Idea I have is standard clean 750 with maybe some dymag wheels and a race exhaust . Motor will go back to high comp je pistons and Yoshi cams and Yoshi flatsides . Debating on the model , I don't like the look of the slab sides , I quite like the idea of a j/k model with the right way up forks but am I going to run into clearance issues with the taller motor and carbs ?
  20. if at the ignition switch plug there is 6 wires then its got a resistor inline for the anti hot wire thing . I have an early bandit 96 (P reg ) and it's got the resistor .
  21. that's what I'm thinking . Never had any oil leak issues with the current 1216 turbo lump but the gasket face on the 1371 engine is noticeably thinner .
  22. Ok I'm now starting to build up a new engine and have a APE big block running 86mm ( 1371) cases have been opened up to except the block . My question is do I block up the oil feed for the head in the cases ( next to the 2 outside rear studs ) and run external oil line or leave as original . The APE block has the oil way machined in the block . Don't wont oil leaks from the base gasket .
