Probably a small air passage for the no. 4 carb pilot circuit is blocked. Would be wise to have the carbs ultrasonic cleaned.

wiring diagram means nothing as far as the location of wires is concerned, just which wire is connected to which wire. -

yellow and white might be the other way round on Suzukis (not sure) but ground is definitely on the side -

no it's not -
Hi and welcome. Before you attempt to open up your engine, get a service manual. The crankcases can be split without disassembling the top end (head and barrels etc). Just make sure ALL the crankcase bolts and nuts are removed, there's one hidden behind the front sprocket, and two bolts you can only undo when the oil filter is removed. The manual will show all the bolts and their locations.

bought this Termignoni 4-2-1 new in 2001 I think. Very light, good quality, good sound, looks nice IMO. Only downside was limited ground clearance. Still got the bike nowadays, sold the pipe some 5 years ago.

yes normally the engine determines the section it goes in. But in this case it's about a watercooled wheel in a watercooled swingarm and watercooled frame. Not much to do with oilcooled IMO. -

who told you that? Boilerdude? -
early fireblade engine fits nicely in FZR400. But this is OSS, let's not discuss inferior shit.

there was a 750-engined GSX-R400 in a Streetfighters mag in the '90s. Will try to find it when at home in the weekend.

looks like the standard 1200 engine. 750 and 600 have a smaller starter motor, and the top of the left engine cover on those is straight, the 1100/1200 has a bump on it like yours.

hi and welcome to group therapy. Post a pic of the left side of the engine and we'll tell you what it is.

I can't believe nobody has suggested a turbo yet

IIRC 1100 heads fit on shortstroke 748 lumps, not because of the studs spacing but because of the camchain tunnel area. Not 100% sure though.
-
you sure? It could also be leaking from the spark plug area if the rocker cover gaskets are not installed correctly. There is a small passage from each spark plug hole to the front of the head near the exhaust ports. And welcome to OSS.

Welcome to OSS Yes the mk2 engine will be fine with some slight modifications. Don't remember if the mk1 has the PAIR stuff, if not the ports on the front of the mk2 cilinder block will need blocking off, easy enough to do. And the electrical connections on the generator and ignition pick-up are probably different. You can swap over these items from your old engine. Just make sure that the gear on the generator is the same, and when you install the generator on the engine, make sure the gear engages properly behind the clutch or it will break. Remove the clutch cover to be sure. Or you can put the mk1 generator connector on the mk2 generator. Both have a red and an orange wire.
