  1. There are 3 things you could do with the swing arm pivot spindle problem,

    1. Drill out your frame pivot to 18mm

    2. Drill out to the b12 20mm size

    3. Have new top hats/spacers made to the size you need.

    Chain run,

How much into the frame dose the chain go? If it just a couple of mm have a look at using a 520 pitch chain, take it your using a 530 at the moment.

Different frame and engine but on my kat (750 import frame with 1127 oil cooled motor) I found the 530 chain just rubbed to frame, I've put a 520 chain on and it clears with about 2-3mm, I can get a pic of the 2 chains of the thickness of them if that would be helpful, as my kat runs a 520 and my et runs a 530 my GS is shaft drive so that won't help xD

I'm doing (among others) a gs550 with a 180 rear wheel and had to cut out about 3mm out of the frame and replate it so the chain can run ok.

  2. I know my mot man who has mot'ed my kat for the last 3 years, give me a advisory for noise exhaust. Dose not take a reading of dB (never had a mot place take a dB reading) and just says "I have not got or seen a bike like yours to compare it to" (kat with oil cooled motor)

Can you put 1 or 2 dB killers in your exhaust?

Can you weld? I may have a old end can that you could weld some 60mm pipe to.

I always say, it's not loud enough till small children run away with there hands over the ears and the old woman at the street corner shack's here head in discussed as you go past :D

  3. The basic answer is yes xD

But, do you want to keep the air box?

B12, gsxr 36mm will all fit but you may need to change carb rubbers. I've got y set of gsxr750 38mm carbs and rubbers on my 1100f motor, ports don't match up 100% but they seal and work well.

Your carbs (tin tops) 34mm I think will be worth as much if not more than a set of b12 carbs. o

you need to change your carbs or looking for more power?

  4. Meant to say, if you need a new cover check if the gaskets for the covers have the same part number?

Old tuning mod was to put the smaller/lighter generator and stators  on the bigger bikes, I've heard people saying they used the 550 in a 1000 but I've not done it so can't say yes or no.

The two things to look at/check is where the generator bolts inside the cover, it has 3 screws and a retaining lugs which the generator screws to some genys have a smaller ring of lugs and screw hole patent.

  5. My take some time, get a Speedo cable attach to speedo, then get high speed drill attach to other end of cable secure both items and start drill and watch the miles fly by ;) but it's not a 2 minute job xD

And make sure the drill is going the right way and not backward as the Speedo only hose one way.

  6. Lots and lots of heat around the head stock area where the bearing is and it will drop out. Heat the head stock not the bearing.

If you don't mind damaging your frame paint work.

If you have not got a oxyacetylene gear get yourself a MAP pro has torch (Eblag item number 233422629230. ) I got mine from folkestonefixings FFX they also do the gas and came very quick. I now think how I did things before with out it.
