Has nowt to do with quality, or lack there of. It's a personal preference. I would rather my $ not go to china, and will expect to pay more for an alternative that doesn't involve using chinese parts.

Don't know about over in the USA but over here UK you see a lot of sellers selling the Chinese stuff for 3x the amount, so just because you pay more from a local dealer dose not mean your money is not going to China. ;)

For example I got a QA throttle from China payed about £6 with post, the same QA throttle for a English seller £80

The Chinese are still getting there money just the local buyer is getting ripped off by the local seller.

It could be, ill have a look later, hope not though, itll be hassle to return i think to chyna

No problems, had a bit of parts that came not 100% contact them tell them it's not working and you will send it back (I take it you got it of that site?) They will offer you some money back say no you want a full refund or you will send it back via Eblag you will end up with your money back and keeping the light ;)

I agree with Wraith. You would have such a large frame, with such a small engine. It would look like one of those 250CC choppers. Perhaps FB market place or craigslist has a parts bike with a larger engine? I picked up a GS650GL pulled for $100.

You can got b6 motors over here (uk) for next to nothing or a good oil cooled 750 for around £200 ish

I merged these two threads. It's confusing having 2 of them.

As I've seen the bike up for sale in the bay, no real point in anymore replys ;)

That's a bit of a retrograde step on Suzuki's part - haven't come across any others where this is a requirement!

No never had I till I put the cases in the one I'm building and found that when I had the crank case and barrels bolted in place you could not get the head on, just no room at all. Even the carbs are tight fit

  6. Welcome to OSS.

Before you get in trouble RTFR ;)

Just doing a gsx1100f myself, and yes the engine has to come out of the frame to remove the head, as above use OEM seals.

Also if it's been used as you say the exhaust studs/bolts maybe seized so give them a good socking in oil or something before they snap.

  7. Not a lover of cafe racer stale but hay, each to there own. ;)

If we where all the same it would be a sad life.

Thought I saw this 650 at the start of the post on the bay last night up for sale ?

  8. Ideally the wheels need to be in line.

Swing arms are some times offset. Two ways of getting your rear wheel in line, one remove all bodywork strap a long length of angle iron coming from the headstock running down the top tube and on to the rear wheel, you can then get the rear wheel in center.

Then and or two, get two lengths of angle iron put one each side of the wheel and measure the distance from left to right and you can see how straight things are

Hello and welcome. Frame doesn’t look like GS750 with the ‘kink’ in the tube near sw/arm pivot! Any pictures with the tank off ? And, if the frame number starts GS650, that’s likely what it is! @wraith knows a bit about those smaller GS’s. He’ll be along shortly! ;)

Seen and replayed in air cooled section (y)

    Ps...I don't do standard.

You will fit in here well then, just DON'T put a brown seat on it ;)

Yes you have your work cut out by the looks of it but any problems just put a post up

  11. Welcome to OSS.

Looks to me you have a gs650 katana and someone has put the gs650gt tank on.

The 650 kat had the oil cooler and the more sporty front mudguard, the seat and rear light/cowling is 650 katana

Good news, the gs550 katana tank will fit the 650.

Bad news the 650 side panels only fit as the 550 kat side panels lugs are in a different place.

You have something to get your teeth into ;)

As you now know it's a katana, pop over to katana owners club UK and between OSS and KOC you could get a nice bike, but it won't be standard with use xD
