  1. And if the carbs need balancing, that always makes the motor sound rattley!
  2. Everyone forgot about Saffa's? Mono with WN Banana arm! Plenty pics of that around. Was even Bike of the Month, many moons ago!
  3. Doing this conversion. To make things easier (I thought), I got an RF900 lower yoke. I thought it would be a straight fit, but the top of the stem is 8.1mm inside the top yoke. The stem/bearing adjuster nut is 3.75mm below the top yoke. Fitted to frame. Where do I go from here? Do I get a threaded collar made, to thread onto the stem, drilled to take 12mm RF900 stem bolt? Any takers???
  4. I kike it too...each to his own!
  5. Playing with VM29's today, and on inserting fingers from both sides of carb, and pressing back and forwards against a closed slide...how much play is allowed before thinking about new slides, or worse still worn bodies...which are now NLA!
  6. Jeezuussss!!! Sometimes it just doesn't pay to get outta bed!! I feel your pain! You must have the heart of a lion, to be able to go forward after all those setbacks. Keep the faith!
  7. Ok boys. So, it's 1100 yokes/750J/K legs! Thanks for your input!
  8. Jay, if they're easy to get at...would you mind measuring your fork legs for me? I will be getting rid of them shortly, and don't want to make out they're something they're not! I need something longer, to make up for the 810mm of the ET.
  9. Very little, I would think. The 1000 motor will go into the 750 frame, and vice versa! The 'thou motor is quite a bit lighter than the 750 too. 1100 Teapot is both lighter, and smaller, so will fit the 750 no bother.
  10. Last one, for the time being! I'll have a look under the top yoke tomorrow cap'n. But...as you'll see by the latest 'photo...732mm. How about 750 legs (but there's no 750 legs that short on the chart), and 1100K/L yokes? Have to be tomorrow for 'photo. Bastard thing won't let me load it!
  11. Couple more. Just had a look at RF900 forks on eblag, and the threaded side for the axle has an offset. And...those threaded holes in the top yoke? I thought they were home made for risers, but strengthening bosses underneath prove otherwise!
  12. Well...you better have a word with Mr 7/11. It's his chart!
  13. Yup! It was sold to me as B12. I now know it isn't. I also got a B12 front wheel with it, but I now know B12 has straight spokes. This one hasn't!
  14. 1100K/L come out at 780! Bit of a dilemma?

    Fork ID

Anyone ID these forks? 43mm stanchions x 732mm long, 20mm axle. Inside of legs (nr mudguard mount) is cast 8255-L & 8255-R. Left and right, obviously. Yokes are 205mm centres and have X8591 cast underneath. I thought they might be 750 J/K, but on looking at the fork chart, J/K's are 43mm x 556mm long! Are they even Suzuki?
  16. Go for any TLR/TLS. Far easier. Some might also say Blade 954?
  17. Nice build, Sheep. And pretty quick too!
  18. Plus 1! Well thought out and fitted!
  19. If using the Slingshot/RF900 yokes, can the B12 wheel/discs ect be used...or do you have to use the model specific wheel/discs to suit yokes?
  20. I bought a motor a few years ago. The guy had taken the carbs, plugs and exhaust off, and didn't cover it up. Said he had! When I took the sump plug out, about 1 gallon of water came out. Buggered, I thought. Stripped it down, and the bores were naturally fucked! 'Bottom end will be scrap, also', thinks I. On splitting the cases, the bottom end was as new! Which was nice. So, s/h barrels and pistons, and away we go!
  21. It cost me £53 for 1 can each of: primer, colour and clear. Expensive!
