  1. No. The motor was originally built as a side car motor reputedly by Mistral racing. Who ever did it originally knew what they were doing as there is some nice work been done. I gave it a quick once over, and kept the came timing it was originally built with. Need to do some carefully dummy builds to check cam timing and piston to valve clearance. I suspect it's just been over revved. Some 750 valve springs may be in order, as well as more regular checks on head torque and valve clearances.
  2. Post mortem. Source of the smoke, heads bolts weren't very tight. Ho hum. Head needs a very light skim to clean it up. There's more. Hmmm Well we cocked that up. Stock exhaust cam and timing. Need to figure out what gone wrong here. Not enough valve clearance, or am I revving it too hard.
  3. J/k frame, breather off, and sump off makes life a lot easier. You wont get the cam cover back on once the engine's in situ. L/m frame, breather off
  4. Most bikes won't have an issue, it's really only when you start pissing about with airboxes. I'd avoid running pipes on them unless you a specifc problem, or the rules say you have to, in that case run them into a bottle tucked away in the beely or behind the fairing. the length of hose has no bearing on anything in this case.
  5. if you have high speed air flow around the vent, it can cause a depression around the vent tube, which can change the level in the float bowl, and how the fuel is drawn up the main jet. You don't get the high speed air flow on a dyno. You can get the same effect on poorly designed airboxes.

No, it's basically the Bandit600, Sv650, Gsxr 96 on cable set-up, but made slimmer so there is more room for a battery box.
  8. First outing of the year at Silverstone on friday, a mate came along to give some competition. Track was cold so took it easy in first session, bathed no issue keeping up with and despatching modern 1000cc bikes. 2nd session going well, passed 2015 r1 at the end of the hanger straight, thengotblack flagged on the start finish straight. Rolled off and checked for oil leaks or lose bodywork, all good, then another rider waves at the rear of my bike, so pulled off. Look round and smoke is pouring from the breather, turns out I've been doing a red arrows. impression. It appears to have damaged a pistol or ring. No rattles or major loss of power, but clearly isn't happy.
  9. Trying to sell to like minded individuals. Or we could tell him to fuck off an no one on here would ever know it's on the market. All seems very short sighted.
  10. Too fast. You want a nice Suzuki Burgman with a top box.
  11. quoted for future reference. Mods, please don't delete this stuff, I've had similar posts deleted in my threads, it's useful for the OSS community.
  12. Why do you want to gear it for 190mph?

  14. Fuck me, @Hanma-shinhas heavy hands this evening.
  15. Knew it would be relatively simple. This should be the go to mod for slingshots.
  16. Just heard about that. Kinda inevitable unfortunatly.
  17. Fit a hydraulic switch in place of the banjo bolt
  18. Silverstone int on the 16th April. Though if my cable clutch conversion doesnt turn up I'll be on my Duc 999.
  19. Modern engines have coating on the valves so its a no no. If you've just had you seats re-cut, it's a no no as the seats will be crisper than you'll get with grinding paste. If you have an old oil boiler with signs of pitting or uneven seating then yes lapping them in will help, and is worth while.
