  1. nope yhe tubes are differamt as well, they need to be swoped as well
  2. Yes, I had to do that with my Magnum 2 to get the rocker box cover off, but with this one there is plenty of room above the engine just not much behind fort he carbs ad they hit the frame????? anyway ill think of a plan later,?!!
  3. No I wasent after a step by step, i was after some general pointers!! Anyway it will be way to much to take on as well as the rest of the bike, Ive got to get the bastard engine to sit right first!! Whos idea was this ?????
  4. so where do i start?? any threads about it on here?
  5. Love to but the budget is zero at the moment, I cant sit still and watch telly so i have to keep busy
  6. No no no!! on the other hand?? Mmm sod ot im going up the pub to think
  7. One step forward 3 steps back Got the ehad and rocker cover on and the cover fouls the frame cross member with the 2 rear bolts in.! Arse.. too good to be true it would all fit straight on!! So pulled the bolts and after an hour of jiggling Ive found a position so that the pipes fit. BUT the it looks like the carbs will hit the top rail..!!!Bugger
  8. And now after a bit of jiggery and some pokey with a 11mm drill the 2 rear engine mounts line up, so i only need to make the 2 front plates. Happy days......
  9. Right to line the pipes up i need the barell on properly before the heads on, so |I need to remove the liners from an old set of b12 barells, as the OD of the liners is bigger than the holes inn the 1052 slabby cases, SO, 180 degrees for 15 minutes and out they plop Dont let the wife catch you as the smell is goppin''
  10. This is all your fault Ash If you hadnt bought the magnum and made it shiny again, I wouldnt have regretted selling it and then i wouldn't have been tempted when this came up!!!! I am enjoying building it though
  11. No chance, it will be used and abused the same way as my old Magnum, and the forks are 1992, so 25 years oldskool????
  12. Time to see if an oilly engine will " Drop straight in" in place of the water cooled. Looks like it will fit but none of the holes line up, nothing a new set of engine plates wont cure...Just need a head to sort exhaust spacing if anyone has i can borrow???
  13. Right the harris stem is solid bar and weighs a ton and is rusty, and has an odd sized bearing, a slingshot stem will fit with a bearing swop for another odd size ( delivered in less that 24 hours by simply bearings!!) ?? so out with the press and my old forks and brakes from my bandit will drop in, the disc spacing's 1mm off so some jiggery pokery needed.. the seat is the right height now as well, I know as its an F1 frame it should be an XR69 replica thingy but i cant afford it and my knees wont work, so high bars and big round headlight it is is, classic " streetfighter" i have a choice
  14. not much left now?????? remote reservoir anyone
  15. Better crack on then, i used to be able to lift these little engines in and out on my own, but too many pies and pints have been seen off, so now Mrs Fatbloke needs to lend a hand. so sump and oil pick up off to make room and out she comes
  16. its till the same one, just seat position has been raised I think
  17. yup she was the first owner according to the V5, its a bit sorry for itself at the moment but will be shiny again one day
  18. yup it is, thats a long time ago... do ypu know it then tony??
  19. Me too, in fact I really cant wait so much so I've booked a track day there in 2 weeks...... I worked out last time there was when you had the problem Fletch... 3 years ago???
  20. Budgets already broken on this one if I aint got the bits in the garage im stuffed
  21. dont just pull it ofc or you will bugger it up, you need to pre tension the spring or it wont read right, all you do is gently bend the needle up over the stop and let it settle, the spring is now untensioned, mark the dial where the needle is. now pull the needle off of the shaft and swop them over, bend it up and over the stop its now tensioned correctly....simples..
