    Magni bandit

magni has been dead a few years now. mate of mine had one of the 1200's, what the picture doesnt really show is that compared to a bandit, theyre tiny bikes. he said it handled better than any other bike he has owned. when he was knocked off it, he contacted magni and it was shipped back to italy in a crate, rebuilt and sent back to him. sadly he has sold it now, but theyre very special bikes. when he came round on it the last time, i had a little sit on it, it felt like a 125!
  3. but it needs you to be running FI for it to be any use,
  4. there was a guy who sprinted a big alcohol fueled weslake single with a 4v head and a fecking huge shorrocks supercharrger drawing through a 2 inch su carb. his carb was without a float chamber and just had a tube straight from the fuel tank jubilee clipped round the main jet mounting! no jet, just a big hole!! it fucking flew though, over the 1/8th mile i beat him by 1 hundredth of a second on my 1170 katana!
  5. its perhaps also worth mentioning that the strange world that exists on the other side of the atlantic has a bit of confusion at to exactly what a katana is, so chek that when they say katana they arent talking about some strange oil cooled teapot.
  6. engines will be nigh on identical for anything that matters. kat 1100 engine is same as the et aside from some slight differences with the crank where the rotor bolts on. will have chrome end caps on the head. all kats and et (1100) engines have gs110x engine numbers. 1980 will have 20 bolts holding rocker cover on (later engins had 24) clutch is the same,
  7. sometimes he takes the lady out of them first.....
  8. mr2 light as people have said. common mod, supposedly a lot brighter than stock with a better beam pattern.
  9. clearly you have no idea how i live. i dont own anything white. even my teeth and eyeballs are a creamy yellow..... boiler suit is a fetching shade of prison workshop green.......
  10. just to clarify scott, do you have to be wearing a white yoshimura lab coat when doing this, or will it work if im only sporting my boiler suit?
  11. ok, long shot, but i had this scenario when i put dyna coils on my kat. the coils are fatter than stock with the posts in different places, and when i put the tank back on, it rested on the post of one coil and the bloody thing shorted out under load. of course, sat still it revved freely and when i took the tank off it removed the problem and it worked ok. i only spotted it when in exasperation i looked under the tank at dusk and just saw the arc of the coil shorting out.
  12. if water got into them perhaps even by running down from above, it might explain it. its as good an explanation as any other complete guess based on speculation!! ice would only split the bowls if they were completely full of water, but weve all seen small ammounts of water in the bottom of carbs, and these do stick into thee bottom of the carb, so its not implausible to imagine water being pulled up from thee bottom of the carb via this jet.
  13. i wonder if theyve been stood outside with water in thm and its frozen?
  14. bloke about 2 miles from my house makes those race seat units.
  15. guy bought it with 16k miles on it, ran it for a few months, then built up a big single powered bike using th h~~~a engine, it was a popular persuit at one time, using big thumper motors in little sweet handling stroker chassis. anyhow, just after he completed it, and beforee he got the chance to paint it and finish fettling it, he had a big off on his other bike , a 750 h~~~a and spent 2 years recuperating with his legs a bit mashed up. eventually he sold his house and put the bike and all its bits into his parents garage, and moved to spain, intending one day to return and pick up where he left off. then a dozen years go by and his parents decide to emmigrate to live with his sister in australia and the bike has to go. so he put it on an internet forum im on for free, with all the original rgv spares, because his parents were moving imminently and the bike was literally a day away from going to the scrapman. we went down to pick it up yestrday and i let my mate have the bike cos i need a project bike like i need a hole in the head, but i kept the rgv stuff for me.
  16. its an rgv all right, from thee banana arm model. engine spins freely and has compression, it has the carbs and airbox, coils, radiator, powervalve motor and junction box and the exhausts which both must have come out on the same side, there are one or two other bits and bobs, from what i can see all thats missing is the kickstart lever, the gear lever and the cdi box. i cant really complain as it was free! my mate got the rolling chassis which alreeady has a h###a xbr 500 engine fitted to it.
  17. hmm, ok. ive just aquird an angine and ancilliarys, so im looking for a projct for it now, but thats pretty good considering it weighs very very little.
  18. just out of interest, what sort of bhp does the rg motor kick out?
  19. suzuki sold a gs1100g (shaft drive) model for a couple of years at the end of the gs's lifesan, it was an 8v gs motor bored to 1100cc, (not the 16 valve gsx1100, which was sold in the american market as the gs1100)
  20. yep, before you take anything to pieces, check that your valve clearances are right.
  21. and that, gentlemen, is fucking doing it oldskool!

    TT meet

if youre going via heysham again theres a new motorway linking the m6 direct to the ferry terminal so you dont have to negotiate the city centre of lancaster.
  23. katanamangler built his using ape seals, iirc they didnt last 18 months before they failed. stock seals would last longer.
  24. common suzuki tickover rattle on gs/gsx motors is the clutch rattling at tickover. jt goes when you rev it and more important for diagnosing it, when you pull in the clutch, it can largely be quietened by carefully balancing the carbs. the backplate of the clutch has transmission springs in it that can be worn or even broken. abuse shortens their life, although our of balance carbs makes them rattle even if the clutch is ok, so fire it up, wait till it rattles, pull in the clutch, if it goes quiet, its the basket. balance the carbs, if its still bad then you can either look for a decent used basket, or buy a kit to repair your own one, but the kits arent cheap so a decent used one is a better bet.
  25. 1075cc gsx motors inc the katana have 34mm cvs, 1135cc (efe) had 36mm, kat 1000 had 32mm slide carbs, i know the efe ones fit the kat engine, so im assuming they fit the gs engine too with a bit of fettling.
