also worth remembering that coils for points models are different to coils for cdi models. and worth replacing the condensors as a matter of course.

    GS1000 Carbs

and ultrasonic cleaning will sort yours out. as has been said, the old slide carbs are pretty robust and ou can buy refurb kits as well as all the jets and floats from various suppliers.

    GS1000 Carbs

whilst youre checking, make sure the advance retard on your ignition works, they tend to seize up and either stick fully retarded, or stick fully advanced. 5 mins with wd40 and a bit of fettling will sort it. as for the carbs, if its a slide carb head, there are two sizes, 26mm and 28mm, the 1000e had the 26's and the 1000s have the 28's.
  5. well im not sure about the frame, but the gs1000 and 1100et swingarms are interchangable.
  6. what swingarm are you planning to use? i ran a 180 on the back of my katana and it went in the standard kat arm.
  7. found this one on preloved, and got it for 350 quid, so thought it was a bargain.
  8. and she is welcome to any of them, she knows that. it might even give me the kick up the arse to get back in the shed of an evening.
  9. have you cleaned the strainer in the sump and changed the oil filter? checked the ignition, ?
  10. that exhaust system is just the most beautiful piece of exhaust pipework ive seen in a long while.
  11. theyre a nice little thing. i wanted her to get through her test so she needs to sell the step thru and ride with a clutch for a bit to get used to it. she cant wait to get out on it now.
  12. fod, you dont need to tell us, we already know you are old. we just didnt want to wake you from your nap, we know how cranky you get when youve not had 40 winks after nursey gives you your medication....
  13. oh you can link pics from fb too, cool!
  14. greater minds than ours will be along shortly im sure...
  15. just bought the mrs her first suzuki. after years and years riding to work on a series of worthy but bland step thus made by that firm that we dont mention here, ive wanted her to get her test passed so she can get a decent bike. the local training school guy said that her riding and roadsense are fine, but she needs to get a bike with a clutch and get used to using it before doing her test. so, if she needed a decent 125, then it had to be a suzuki. so here it is, just need to chuck it through the mot first, then i think it might lend itself to a coat of 13l and a blue/grey seat cover.... its not glam, its not that trick, but it is suzuki, it is aircooled and it is the correct period. and lets face it, if youre from the uk at least, its how we all started out if we arent old enough to have passed a test on a 1921 grindley peerless combination of some other shaky old tat. er, ok, so when i figure how to add pics....
