does efe have mechanical adv/ret? i thought only the 1075 motors had the mechanical adv ret unit, the efes being retaded electronically?
  2. not sure, rattly clutch is usually just a symptom of out of balance carbs.
  3. check that your flywheel isnt loose either, but tbh clutch rattle caused by out of synch carbs is a pretty common gs/gsx issue.

    wheelie wire?

i rest my belly on the tank, works fine, but thats cos im oldskool......
  5. also, if the petrol in your tank is more than a month old it might have gone off and be making it run lumpy, wear in the clutch basket always sounds worse if the carbs are out of balance, but run fresh fuel through it before you balance them.
  6. unless youre embarking on a lot of tuning, theres not really a great deal wrong with the stock ignition, there are plenty of them kicking about and theyre cheap enough.
  7. yay! dont you love a cheap fix!
  8. just cut off the wires for the gear positions and leave the neutral light feed that it already has.
  9. and they come with a wiring diagram anyway.
  10. yeah, id lead with that,,,,,, although after 2 years practice, i make a moderately edible kedgeree! i look at the dr chassis and then the gsxr1100wn engine and wonder if they would fit together. after all, if you want a big powerful traily bike that you wont ever take off road.....
  11. electrex, good tackle and reliable. superdream ones were always the way to go, but remember this. even the newest superdream reg rec is now getting on for 30 years old by now. is it really worth buying a 30 year old electronic component when for 20 quid more you can have a new one with a guarantee? also, check that the wiring hasnt still got the old suzuki trait of one phase wired through the headlight switch and back to the reg rec and the other two wired direct to the reg rec. wire the new reg rec with all 3 phases direct to the generator without the bypass through the switchgear.
  12. seriously, youre pitching in with aircooled spares. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha,,,,, this is me, aircooled spares are what keep me awake at night!
  13. ive heard that youve got a bag and jewellery to match them too......
  14. problem is, youve got nothing to swap that i want!
  15. and this one is kick start only, big boots bike....
  16. no good for you, your legs dont reach the floor on a bmx,,,,,
  17. possibly, im upto 6 including the 650, and 23 if you include all the other bikes, you know ive now got another dr650! but this ones a runner with mot and it was the same price as the one i got from you, im having a big cull when the sun starts shining and encouraging folks wallets to open, keeping only the kats and punting the rest on.
  18. well done, however, i have to warn you that if you think its stopping here, then youve another thing coming. you might think youve fulfilled a lifetimes ambition and its the end of the search, then i have to tell you that even as you read this, a tiny infection is eating away at the part of your brain that controls common sense and proportionality. this time next year you will have decided to buy a 'parts bike' for spares, a year later you will have decided that its too good to use for spares, and a further 12 months down the line you will have , completely autonimously you will think, decided that what you need is a mint stock kat, a daily rider and a fancy modified one for playing with. meanwhile you will have collected 'spares' for 'just in case' your mortgage will go unpaid, your kids will starve, your wife will leave, but its ok, cos youve got your kat. they arent a bike, theyre an infection.....
  19. buy a 650 katana and fit the shafty gs1000 engine in it, that would be propper smart!
  20. or couldnt you use a gs750 primary drive and clutch backplate gear, allowing you straight cut primarys rather than the hellical cut of the gs1000/gsx1100?
  21. no probs, its been hung in my shed for years, so will be there for years more no doubt. good luck in your search!
  22. rear only, im keeping the front with the lovely 1980s huge cast iron disks, rear is an 18 inch item that is a kawasaki fitment (4 bolt rear disk).
