  1. you can buy cheap chinese adjustable electronic flasher relays on Eblag for under a tenner, theyve an adjusting screw so you can set your own flash speed. leave the idiot lights if they work.
  2. gsx1100g motor? effectively its a shaft drive gsxr motor.
  3. ahh, sorry, i just assumed gsx, my bad, carry on, nothing to see here..........
  4. Some Katana SD models had a 16 inch front wheel which had a fat tyre on it which may be close to the size of an 18 in her with a lower profile tyre. The 400 katana had an 18 inch front wheel.
  5. Is it that o ring that's leaking? Plenty of oil leaks on heads are due to the o rings on the centre cylinders head nuts.
  6. I wonder if the brake plate from the spoked wheel two stroke models are compatible, there were a lot of gt's in breakers!
  7. Check that the two dogs on the oil pump gear behind the basket are engaging correctly in their slots in the back of the clutch basket. If they're not, the basket will be spaced wrong and the clutch won't disengage.
  8. alternatively, if you used a set of 750 aircooled cases, theyre a shell crank motor so you could use a stretched oilcooled crank as 750 aircooled cases are everywhere propping shed doors open and stopping canal barges from drifting away.....
  9. it struck me as the sort of thing that might be used if you blew a motor and told them and theyd say 'ahh well you see, youre over revving them' which seems odd for a performance part built for tuned motors. and the gsxr w revs to 12k... but that might just be my natural cynicism....
  10. page says theyve a max rpm rating of 7000 to 9000 rpm doesnt the bandit motor redline at 10k?
  11. also, dunlops xr69 is running a slingshot gsxr or bandit 1200 motor so not even aircooled.
  12. try looking for an import 400 impulse mk 2 swingarm, theyre quite a chunky aluminium twin shock arm, look pretty trick too.
  13. As a mere observer of the world of boosted engines, am I right in assuming also that the carb breather and float chamber need to be vented to the boosted pressure rather than just to atmosphere?
  14. these are the engine bars ive got, theyre under a tarp at the bottom of my garden at the mo still in situ.
  15. i suppose i should add that ive run sidecar outfits for over 30 years, our family transport for years were sidecars and we took our kids all over europe in various sidecars so getting another is more a bit of nostalgia for me rather than a leap into the unknown....
  16. grandchild necesitates some lateral thinking. original plan was to fit one to a katana but i cant bring myself to use one of my kat frames for an outfit, so im going for an et and then will later fit the kat bodywork to it. the sidecar is a saluki siderider which is an 80's chair and if you google it, youll understand why its perfect for a kat!!!!
  17. does the 550 have its lifter on the sprocket side of the engine? have you checked this mechanism?
  18. 1100 is 8 valves heavier......
  19. where in the uk are you? ive got a set on an et that i dont need as its going to be pulling a sidecar so isnt likely to ever fall over! im in lancs btw, near blackpool.
  20. twin shock kat 750 mounts are the same as the kat 1000/1100 too so you wont be short of choice!
  21. Did you clean out the fuel tank whilst you were at it? Don't assume a fuel filter will help, the fine dust from a rusty tank will go right through most petrol filters.
  22. did you remove the emulsion tubes when you cleaned the carbs?
  23. 400 katana, but its a 17 rear and an 18 front. exactly the same spoke pattern as the gs/gsx/kat wheels but wider and tubeless. also the 400 carries whopping floating disks on the front.
  24. i think the bottom end is still in the shed. ill take a snap.
  25. ive an 1170 yoshi kitted motor where the rod and piston from number 2 pot did that but instead of dropping down it just popped out of the front of the crankcases!
