Rossco(Iceman Josros) Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Any ideas to watch may have caused this melt down on my Slabby last night ??? Quote
Paulm Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Melted the fuse and the fuse connector in the fuse box and it was last night Quote
Gixer1460 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Not surprised something melted - you've got two 15A, one 20A and two 10A's in there - they are all supposed to be 10A's!Taking that connector wrapped in masking tape as an example, i'd reckon you've got deeper electrical issues to sort first - its why the correctrating fuses are needed, they pop - not melt and start fires due to carrying excessive load! 1 Quote
Ben Slabby Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Most likely a loose connection where the blade of the fuse plugs into the terminal in the fuse box. As stated above, they should all be 10amp anyway. Quote
canamant Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 You must have a short somewhere. Was the ign on when it started smoking ? First thing I'd look at is anything on the circuit that the cooked fuse powers. Look for frayed insulation or signs of burning/smell etc. A good multimeter will help. Quote
Captain Chaos Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 probably heat caused it to melt. I'll get my coat. 2 Quote

Rossco(Iceman Josros) Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 Fook me the fairy must have snuck in while was asleep and swapped them all the tape is to stop water ingress as the fuse is not where it should be :/ coincidentally I fitted a set of dyna coils the night before that one Me Whitehead thinks may be shorting on the frame ...... Paulm Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Ok a rough translation is sort the fucker out so we can can ride our motorcycles on Saturday to the super sausage cafe 1 Quote
Beevis Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 As already said if you have a loose connection it can cause arcing and melt stuff. I had a loose fuse holder on my LC and it got hot enough to melt the solder holding the fuse wire in the fuse. Took ages to find the fault as the fuse looked fine but didn't make connection. Quote
Rossco(Iceman Josros) Posted August 3, 2015 Author Posted August 3, 2015 Well checked the recently added Dyna coils for shorts found nothing checked the headlight bulbs and found a 90/100 watt lurking in the near side one duely swapped for the correct item popped a replacement fuse box in and after a 100 mile round trip to the SSC on Saturday everything appears to be as it should so fingers crossed for the next miles and thanks for all the comments ;) Quote
