yantosh Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 The Viz'meister says I should post more , wasn't sure where to post this, figure it's trick framey, will be going a previously twin shocked steel frame, but the build is a secret ... for secret reasons .. I started by making myself one of these things which combined with 100kg of concrete, a hole in the ground and a steel frame and a steel post ends up with this which bends loominum 10 Quote
yantosh Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 then I made a jig, demonstrated here by a half finished slabby arm 4 Quote
yantosh Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 next I made up a pair of ends which fit into the jig (temporary bits of threaded bar) 3 Quote
yantosh Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 a bit of bendification and I have the main arms then chop a bit for the cross tube (left long for fitting) 3 Quote
yantosh Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 next on the list is the shock linkage mount 2 Quote
yantosh Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 start bending bits for the brace more than a little too wide that's more like it bit of rubbity rubbity then cut another bundle of choobs 4 Quote
yantosh Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 a wee slug to align the brace and glue the two bits together 1 Quote
yantosh Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 touch of machining to fit the arms to the pivot tube 4 Quote
yantosh Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 better start notching tubes like so the brace too 7 Quote
yantosh Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 then fit the supports for the brace and beat it all with the shiny stick 7 Quote
yantosh Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 weld in the shock linkage weld in some more bits then weld in some more bits I'm not going to get a job at GIA with my welding, but i'm reasonably happy 19 Quote
yantosh Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 couple of adjuster blocks then lifters which button together and end up about here there you go Viz, an Old Skool loominum arm 23 Quote
