clivegto Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Made a protector to stop the chain eating into the frame. Haven't fitted it yet as don't think I could get it of again. 1 Quote
SiBag Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Think the original on my swingarm was about 3/4 of a full circle. Snapped on tight. 1 Quote
clivegto Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 Post man's been. Bling bling a bit more to the jig saw. 3 Quote
clivegto Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 (edited) Cut some 8mm aluminium bar to fit under the top yoke as its only real thin & want to fit risers for handle bars. Hopfuly get Will from Weab Motors to weld them in this week. Edited July 10, 2017 by clivegto 2 Quote
clivegto Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 Ignition switch had been hack sawed of the top yoke. I previously drilled the bolts out. Got a 8 x 1.25mm helicoil kit today, trimmed the tops of the mounting points of & fitted the inserts. Quote

Depending on how your lockstops are arranged, you may not have enough space to use a Suzuki ignition switch on a GSXR1000 type top yoke on a Magnum 2 frame. These switches are really deep due to the steering lock incorporated into the switch. I tried one and it fouled the top lug that's wellded onto the frame to take a fairing mount/lockstop. 1 Quote
clivegto Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 Thanks @Dezza but some one has cut the faring mount of befor I got it. Quote

clivegto Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 Decided to mod the back of the frame a little bit as there are not many fixing points at all. Still needs welding but you can get the idea from the pics. 1 Quote
clivegto Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Dragged my little mig welder out from under the bench, don't use it a lot nowadays. Drilled some holes at the back of the frame to weld dowl the back mounts. Tacked the front ones in place with the bracket fitted, removed bracket & finished welding it up. Then cleaned my ugly welds up. 4 Quote

clivegto Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Decided to do the home made stepped yoke thing just to allow for all eventualities. Took a week to get a r1 yoke to butcher & another week for it to get to me. All just needs welding up now. 3 Quote
Dezza Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 I didn't know R1 yokes had the same offset and spacing as GSXR 750/1000 yokes - every day's a school day Quote

R1 only cost £12 delivered & pinch bolt holes look similar to the k9. 1 Quote
clivegto Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 (edited) @davecara thanks, dropped this JMC swinging arm of for me today, which is what I wanted for the Harris in the first place. Believe it was fitted to a early middle weight onda. Easy enough fitted to the frame with some b12 arm top hat spacers just needs centring. But the 1000k9 wheel is loads to big. ( head scratching time.) Edited July 28, 2017 by clivegto 4 Quote
vizman Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 when fitting the dudettes slabby with a bottom braced metmachex/6 inch oz rear we cut off the eccentric adjusters, and i drew up some alloy slots with a step in one side, yan(BFT) made them up for us. it allowed the use of the chunky 21st century rear hoop sit in the narrow late 80's swinger. 2 Quote

Think I will have to widen it as well as I want to get the back wheel as far forward as to get close to the original Harris swinging arm length. Quote
vizman Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 ahhh, i see, we went for a little more length, not full on drag slots, but a tad longer than usual. Quote
