Blubber Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 I never had a problem with MOT; We don't have MOT in the Netherlands. But.... I would check with my local MOT tester IF i had this question. Quote
vizman Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 i've no idea, ask your mot bod.... .....if your mot bod is head honcho for robot wars or isambard brunel i'm sure it'll be fine 1 Quote
Jaydee Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 We don't have mot's here in Ireland (yet). I think it's a case of using common sense. As every tester is an individual, they will have their own opinion on the matter. Some may fail it while others will pass it. You have to ask yourself, why would it fail? Is there a chance of the chains snagging on a component which could jam your steering while riding it? Are the chains anchor points up to the job since chains would have a tendency to whip taunt. How will chains react to a tankslapper? Just a few questions I can think of that a tester may ask too. I don't think there would be many testers that would sign off on that mod seeing as it's their neck on the block if anything goes wrong if they passed it. Quote

Nelson Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 Fred Dibnah's traction engine passed its mot every year & that used chains, having said that, it wasn't the most precise through the bends. New lock-stops look a better solution. 1 Quote
