Hi everybody....i thought it was about time i joined.I have known about the site for some time be it through magazine feature bikes and other mates.

I have recently acquired an 84 EFE after selling my last (italian) project.I have been after something like this Suzuki for some time and saw it on Eblag and made a successful bid and that was it.It even already had some old OSS stickers on it!!!..My last Suzuki was a  Gsxr Slingshot some time ago.

Anyhoo,i always find forums helpful and insightful so here i am.My name is Shaun (sheep is my work nickname) and im the wrong side of 40 although the wife thinks i act more like a 12 yr old!!!Bikes have always been part of my life but unfortunately work and a mortgage takes some of my time away from them.

Once i get to grips with the forums layout i shall put some pics up as i have been doing the old girl up.Its not fully finished yet and i still have a couple of niggles to iron out but its getting there.

Thanks very much,Sheep.

Hi bud and thanks.I have been having a scan through some posts and can see myself spending some hours dribbling over some of the motors on here..

Just to give a little taste of my bike it has a standard bottom end with flowed head, bespoke complete exhaust system with Yoshi can(im a welder lol),Rs Flatsides,Dyna coils, some Harris bits,K1 rebuilt front end,Renthals,Slab back end,Kw@k back wheel,de-lugged/braced replacement frame (last one had been shortened)with mono-shock re-work fabrication, standard plastics, endurance twin fill tank.

It wasn't exactly what i expected when i got it home and although there were a lot of trick bits on it there was a lot of things i did not like. What was going to be a fixer-upper ended being a complete re-start,especially the frame as 6 inches were missing from the back....i wanted the Efe back to the big arse it had from the factory.

I have nearly finished it.Its not a money pit by a long way as i am always juggling finances.Seeing some of the big builds on here makes me wish i could do the same.I have got the girl running just yesterday in fact although i need to source some 36 carbs as the Rs40's that came on it are way ott and is upsetting the plugs, not to mention my head/lungs in the shed!!!...Just need to get a Scitzu mounted, paint out sourced and the seat is still at my mates being recovered.April is my deadline, earlier the better.

Ok,i think this should work, technology isn't my strong point!!

Here is a second frame i bought as the original one had been shortened ('fightered!!).I copied the dimensions from the other frame for the shock mount but improved on the design and de-lugged and braced it while i was at it.

Sorry guys,i knew i was fick but it will only let me load one at a time....where's my hammer?

Heres one with the new frame, yokes and other parts fitted along with the original tank with my endurance style filler.Im using another tank for the conversion. This was just to make sure my wires and colis didn't foul the tank.

Here is the exhaust under construction.316 stainless ending in the yoshi tri-oval silencer it came with although i am thinking whether to do something different with it,something like a Legend can perhaps..(sorry for the state of the shed guys,i normally have more room but i have the kids bikes taken half the space up making for less than desirable working conditions.)

Xmas holiday pic,...i do now have it running with new casings, oil and filter and apart from the oversize carbs it runs nice. The rear tyre left an unsightly mark on the patio much to the wifes displeasure lol...i will try and find a pic when i bought it.Someone may recognise it.

The pics of the original build do not look too bad but there were a few things i wanted to change. The genny casing had been dropped on its head and sort of welded, although it measured ok the rear shock fabrication was a little untidy, the rear frame was cut and shut, the Yoshimura rear-sets were not Yoshimura but chinese replicas, the Koso dash worked but had dubious connections etc etc....i didn't want to have to strip it all down but im glad i did. Then again thats half the fun.Since i have built it up this far i found the frames powdercoating has gone a bit iffy, not a major problem but i can see it even if no-one else does.i plan to use it a lot this year then next winter i can see myself getting the frame done again. We will see. This is not a cheque book bike as you can tell by my shed hahaha...but its a hobby i enjoy.

Hi mate.Thankyou.Yes i made the filler at work.It helps being in the engineering trade lol.

The main 'body' of it is stainless as i was going for an unfinished look to it.Have you seen the Racefit bikes with these. They are sweet and they tend to weld them to the tank and leave unfinished but i wanted my welds painted but not the body. The top plate is aluminium, yes, which bolts to the body.I will let you into a secret, the filler nearest the rider is a true filler with a Harris cap,the rear is a dummy but i am using it as a breather to be a little different.

To fit it all i had to weld a blank over the o/e filler hole.It is surprising how thin these tanks are!!!..I may paint the alloy top in crinkle black to compliment the casing but my mate says to leave it raw.I don't know yet.

Seeing some of the bikes on here makes me think i have a lot to learn still. The old ones get me going much more than the new stuff.
