cnap504 Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 I’d like to do a 525 chain conversion on a 1985 GS1150 but I can’t seem to find a countershaft sprocket. Anyone know where they can be found? Quote
Gixer1460 Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 You are joking right? - 5 minute search . . . . https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_search?s=suzuki+525+front+sprockets Quote
cnap504 Posted May 20, 2021 Author Posted May 20, 2021 I have found a lot of websites that do have countershaft sprockets for the GS1150 but none offering a 525. I went to the link you gave me, www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk and checked every 525 countershaft available for Suzuki’s, this is what’s listed: DL1000, DL650, GSF650, GSR600’ GSR750, GSXR600, GSXR750, GSX650F, SV650. Maybe one of these have the same output shaft splines as an 1100/1150 but they gave no specific fitment reference as such. Quote
Gixer1460 Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Of course they didn't - a 525 is certainly not a common fitment for a EFE! The majority of Suzuki's all have the same spline pattern / size. In worst case i'd buy a correct spline centre, machine off the tooth outer and match to a correct 525 tooth outer ring and weld together - if only to get correct offset which is bound to be unique. That is solely due to the fact that 525 is not the standard fitment for the bike, 630 is. But that is what G1460 already said. Quote
Dezza Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 If GSX and GSXR gearbox sprocket splines are indeed exactly the same (I think this is so but am not 100% sure despite owning both ) then a Krapasaki ZX6R sprocket should work as these fit oilcooled engines and are 525 as standard. Some ZX6R sprockets have the added bonus of being offset as stock. Quote
no class Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 ..... I have a sprocket off of a 2010 gsxr and the countershaft sprocket fits onto the splines of my gsxr 1100 .... as far as I know....all gsx / gsxr have 13 spline count Quote
no class Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 why 525 ? if your motor is stock.... drop the weight of your 630 chain and sprockets down to a 520 ..... it can handle the massive 125ish hp the efe puts out 1 Quote
rodneya Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 All these bikes have the same 13 spline 25mm shaft sprocket. This is from PBI sprockets list for 530 offset sprockets, Quote
cnap504 Posted May 21, 2021 Author Posted May 21, 2021 (edited) Thanks for cross reference info and the spline dimensions Edited May 21, 2021 by cnap504 Quote

I just didn’t realize a 520 would work on the 1150. Seems that it would be fine. Edited May 21, 2021 by cnap504 Quote
Dezza Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 My guess is that a good quality 520,525,530 modern chain is going to be as strong or stronger than a good quality 630 from years gone by. The 630s do look good though. Quote
Swiss Toni Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 Have you felt the weight of the bloody things? Good excuse to get rid! 1 Quote
