Most rubber type ones are ment to be Reused as long as not distorted.

Glad you said that as i have just finished peeling the old instant gasket off the one I took off, it was everywhere and the reason I had to ask the question. Thanks(y)

A 'bit' of instant gasket isn't a bad thing - you use it to hold the rubber in place when you invert the cover to fit - especially important round the 'mickey mouse ear' gaskets round the plug holes as many leaks occur this way when gaskets displaced - you can't see if they've moved till the oil drips out by the exhaust!

Thanks for the tip, this wasn't a 'bit' of instant gasket, I think the previous owner had shares in it, I timed myself cleaning it. A whole hour and a half of my life I can't get back! I'm suspicious there will be a leak.

Instant gasket is fine; it's removing three-bond that's the problem. Thinking about it causes me to begin to lose the will to live:(

Haven't a clue what it was but you can be sure if I come across it again the gasket will be in the binxD

Just be careful with the rubber washers. If they compress from age they don't seal well. Being that it's a shouldered bolt, extra tightening to stop a leak will shockingly easily pull the threads out of the cam cap. I learned the hard way.

Can the rubber rocker gasket and those rubber washers under the fixing bolts on an EFE be re used ? Or am I just being a tightarse?

As long as the rubber isn't too hard it should be ok
