Spike Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 A while back fellow OSS member Slabbyruss712 posted on FB he wanted to trade an EFE for his JMC framed GSX-R1216. It would be a dream to own a bikes like this, because a while back I was forced to sell (housing for my disabled daughter) my Bakker F1 which took me ages to get. So I took a gamble and contacted Russel. We got talking on the phone and managed to make a deal both of us were happy with. 12 Quote
Jaydee Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 Great news. Best of luck with it. Tis a beauty. 1 Quote
Spike Posted July 10, 2019 Author Posted July 10, 2019 I traded 2 EFE's and a Kat for it and offered to bring them to the UK. So export-papers were sorted and ready for a road trip with one of my best mates "Anton Heyboer". Down to Calais to catch the Eurotunnel and after 4 (!) checks by military twice, borderpetrol and Police we finally set foot on UK soil. Bit of a search to find Russel and his mate, but at last I could check out the JMC! 1 Quote
Spike Posted July 10, 2019 Author Posted July 10, 2019 You should know that Russel and his mate are real magicians. They managed to get all 3 bikes in a Vivaro van. Lots of respect! Quote
Spike Posted July 10, 2019 Author Posted July 10, 2019 With the JMC safe and sound in the van not even a hail storm could ruin the trip back. 2 Quote
Spike Posted July 10, 2019 Author Posted July 10, 2019 End of the day the JMC was in the land of clogs, tulips, windmills and stroopwafels. 8 Quote
Spike Posted July 10, 2019 Author Posted July 10, 2019 After a few little changes the JMC was ready for the Dutch DVLA (RDW). And it pasted without a hitch. 5 Quote
Spike Posted July 10, 2019 Author Posted July 10, 2019 Last week I finally had the change to drive the first miles. Damn, it's quick! According to Russel it's a 1052 lump, with 1127 crank, Carrillo rods, 1127 cilinder bored out to 1216 with Cosworth pistons and reworked head by Roger Upperton. Have some small plans for it in the future. We'll see. Again a big thanks to Russel! 9 Quote
baldrick Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 I hope you are keeping the skoal colours? Bike looks good, sounds like a lot of work to get your dream bike, but looks like its been worth it. 2 Quote
Spike Posted July 10, 2019 Author Posted July 10, 2019 (edited) It's growing on me. No, no big alterations. Perhaps changing some parts and adjusting the stands. For now just enjoying the bike and put some miles on it. We'll see what winter brings. I was raised by the mindset: if you want something, you'll have to work for it! Was willing to do it and already forgotten when looking at the bike. Edited July 10, 2019 by Spike 3 Quote

IceKat Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 Congratulations Spike awesome bike well worth the trip We saw one of these framed specials years ago on our way back from the Isle of man, that one was Z900 powered 1 Quote
K.H.I Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 I remember one of these being up for £500 10 years ago, nobody wanted it so it ended up being broken. If I remember rightly the frame got weighed in for scrap with a load of bike bits. Crazy how times change. 1 Quote

Spike Posted July 24, 2019 Author Posted July 24, 2019 Still looking for extra info on the bike. Found some pictures on the web prior. It shows there was some kind of fairing on it. Wondering what it looked like. According to Leblowski there should be a picture of it here on OSS. But I can't find it. Anybody any idea? 1 Quote
Dezza Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 There was one as Reader's Special in PB years ago in the late 80s but I cannot remember which issue. Someone with a store of 80s bike mags may be able to find it. 1 Quote
Bowler Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Nice to see this bike not just in pictures @Spike! 1 Quote
