  3. Drilled the head off the seized bolt on the hugger and got the bastard out for once with my easy outs Torque arm cleaned up and painted, new swingarm bearings fitted after giving the arm a clean up.Its got some battle scars from footrests digging into it from its past life. Few clean up jobs tomorrow if my hangovers not to bad
  4. Just realised 1000s are on the fairing the ones I saw are the std handle bar jobs .....they do look a bit like slabby ones which you can get pattern versions of
  5. I’m pretty sure wemoto sell pattern ones
  6. Trip to Allen’s performance today dropped the carbs off so they can suss out what service parts are still obtainable without paying loads out for a repair kit that’s got bits in it that I don’t need.
  7. Nothing exciting just doing a bit of contracting for Greenlands only airline
  8. I’m hoping a bit of heat and my blind bearing puller do the job,but it’s normally a right pig of a job,any helpful tips?
  9. Great looking bike,great tribute
  10. Afternoon in the garage today, got the swingarm out ready to clean and fit new bearings.A few more seized bolts to drill out.....bugger... Cleaned the cushion lever just so I could inspect the bearings and spacers, bad news is they are well knackered they were stuck fast with dried grease and have even managed to wear themselves through the spacers due to lack of rotation More expense this thing will be on the road this year but my plan for May looks a bit too optimistic due to cash flow and time, but I reckon it will be done by the summer I hope
  11. Even found this the other day, original brochure I got from V&M when I bought one first time round
  12. I think a UK company imports them to,they advertise in Practical Sportbikes mag, they’re called Exactrep or something like that
  13. You can still buy both direct from Germany http://www.speedpro.de/
  14. Tracked some of these down at last In good nick for their age,not that it matters as they will need to be shortened and rewelded then sprayed glorious metallic purple first.
  15. Back home at last from the cold of Greenland and had a nice surprise the RGV sale bits arrived Need to get in the shed this weekend and crack on with it
  16. They're great on your road pride and joy for when you drop it in a car park or slide off on diesel, but as some of the winged hammers point out can cause more problems on track. If you check out bikes in WSB they only have engine covers and maybe an exhaust slider plus other bits designed to break away when dropped which are quick to replace in the pits, I reckon they know the score. I used to run a non-suzook track bike which I put loads of sliders on, crashed it at Cadwell and snapped the sub-frame, convinced it was due to the sliders as I had crashed previously at the same place without them and other than cable ties and some duck tape the bike was still ok. Lesson learned....the hard way, although I do have them on my road bike for when I fall off in a car park or outside the pub....
  17. Here you go only picture I have of it
  18. Its a white box behind the right hand side panel on the 750
  19. No I always did it outside the cop shop
  20. Forgot to say my mate bought some 21 crankcases last month and paid £100 for them reckon you could break it and make more cash then selling it whole,if the engine was complete with decent compression you might get £500 for it although eblag prices aren’t reliable just greedy fecks selling crap for made up prices most of the time
  21. God I love the eighties as @Captain Chaossays you could keep the paint add fluorescent wheels pink or dayglow orange stick on your Simpson and do burnouts outside your local cop shop
  22. @Sheepif you’re thinking of selling or need more info try the rgv forum they’re some proper RGV nuts on it that seem to own all models of RGV therefore seem to know everything about them, some of the folk are on here also my level of knowledge is only VJ21 L model based as during my rebuilding I have had to learn new stuff but don’t know details about other models sorry I can’t help more Your 88 VJ21 engine would be a Japan J model or K model with the only option for new pistons being Suzuki unlike later model VJ21 L and VJ22 that use the same piston so you can use Vertex or other decent makes Sean at the Tuning Works based in Lincolnshire is a good source of knowledge to,he has a website and runs the rgv forum Hope this helps
