  1. Gents thank you for the clarification about that ,it was something that I'd been told, and like I said in my post wasn't 100% sure of so as I've said before, every day is an old skool day
  2. Jeez that's 7 teeth up on a std b12 but then I suppose the 1100f was supposed to cope with two fat tourists and a fortnights luggage nice that it'll lift in third just right for overtaking Greta in her prius
  3. Not 100% on this but I thought that they changed the crankcase engine mounts ,along with the frame ,in 2006 to halfway house set up before going w/c in 2007 with the 1250 , hence why the change from v719 to v720 PLEASE check this out before you do anything with a 2006 motor ,I may be wrong hopefully I am . Maybe @fatblokeonbandit may know .Your build stage one cams dot head is good dot heads have smaller chamber so will raise std compression, watch out for carb to tank clearance as dot head is slightly downdraughted compared with std. Honestly no idea about the 12:1 busa pistons you would have to work out the numbers ,there are online calculators for this hth
  4. Yeah but I bet you hardly need to replace your front tyre !!! Probably set off in 3rd ,that's a big gear on the back
  5. I would say 16/48 which is std 1100 gearing or drop it to a 15 on the front for a "livlier " feel
  6. @Gixer1460do you think, that it is the greater vacuum draw of the bigger motor that causes the bigger motor to run ok on small carbs? This is all hypothetical obviously each engine needs individually tuning, but does stronger airflow signal (as in @TonyGee600 carbs on a 1200) pull more fuel from a given jet size ? Would this enable a reasonable enough mixture ? Up to the airflow limits of the 600 carbs, obviously 32's wont have the top end of 36-40mm carbs, just want to learn/ get my head around the theory thanks DAZ
  7. This is just me thinking out loud, but if you were to swap to the 42.5 pilot jet that would help the low end as it's the 650 size, now your going up 20% ish in capacity try the 155 mains, although not hugely bigger than what your using as a 550 would the increase capacity and subsequent vacuum cause more fuel draw from the main jet? I fully accept that I maybe wrong and am quite happy for someone who knows better to explain why, but if that's what you got then try it and see like I say just thinking out loud and willing to learn
  8. You could give grumpy 1260 spares a try Google them ,they might know someone or ray debben down in Hampshire, team green but big Z cranks similar
  9. Oh I know that ,out of the 25 or 26 bikes I've had over the years the 1200 bandits were the ones I loved the most and kept the longest,12 years between two of them, but unfortunately got suckered into the advertising hype and have had all sorts but whilst they all do the job well, they never seem to hit the spot, hence the "white goods" expression who cares what make the fridge or washing machine is? . I'm impressed by the projects on here (always was) but the development by you and @jonny1bumpis above and beyond ,thanks for the inspiration, this year I need to sell the current non OSS ride and go old skool again
  10. It quite possibly could have been you ,I've come back to OSS for some inspiration after a few years of modern bike misery , chopping and changing and still unhappy with the modern white goods experience(they work perfectly well but have no character) and have read loads .btw read @370steveefe build and he used wossner 1246 pistons maybe he has some paperwork or something

Damn that looks the dogs danglies , gonna go revisit your build thread Found it on page 8 ,I'm of to make a brew and have a read
  13. Possibly try warpspeed racing over in sunny norfolk

Now that would be proper beefy, be some work on the chain run I would have thought though a few have done the 6" before off set sprockets and machined cush drive etc

Fair play Dave ,hadn't really looked into it too deeply looked like a similar design to the bandit around the swing arm pivot and thought Mr Suzuki San doesn't like change for changes sake so didn't think there would be any difference,as that would muck up the chain tension as the arm moves up and down . I never considered the front wheel spindle ! Good spot fella

Just had a quick Google,as you do and your right they are a longer wheelbase,57.8 vs 56.5 for a bandit, so not a huge difference, maybe visually the longer tailpiece makes the bandit arm seem shorter?

Probably, though in the UK they're quite rare I'm going to make the assumption that as they're from a bandit-esque (why did spell checker want to make that grotesque) frame that it's the same size pivot and just needs top hats

+1 on bolt on drag slots being a bad choice , still not as bad as the neon lights though...
  19. I can't help with the weight of the wossner pistons, but I do vaguely recall that someone ( not sure if it was on here or not ) had some thin walled tool steel gudgeon pins turned to help reduce the weight of the pistons they were fitting to nearer that of a std piston, sorry to be so vague but it was something I read that may or may not help and I have slept since reading about this idea and may not have it 100% correct,
  20. @jonny1bumpDon't know if it's any use to you but there is a vendor on the bay that does bound paper reprints of oe service manual for around 15-20 quid user name handy-manuals
  21. I'm sure when you lifted the lid on those cams your heart sank, but the oss nation want you to win and get your bike on the road the winter solstice is passed summer is on its way!!
  22. I don't think there is much difference apart from age and I seem to recall that the very last ones 2005/6ish went big bore at 650! main thing is if you are buying from a breaker you want a 30 day warranty on it if you can so you can fit it and get it running ,be cheeky ask to look at cams if possible, the odd scruffy cover is ok as you will have yours to put on and generally the donor will becoming from an accident damaged bike which is ok usually as you know it was running at the time hope this helps
  23. The carbs should be ok ,as I said earlier you may need to swap the intake boots(rubbers) as the carbs maybe at a different angle or spacing but the boots will transfer and line them up ,you will need new o rings at the head side but you can get them off the bay
