No man, living life on the edge!

did you do a bench leak test before re-fitting them ?

I gave up and left it be! I’m more interested now in fitting a 750J motor into a GSX750ES frame! In particular mounting plates? Possibly even into a 550ES frame, although this looks like all existing mounts will need chopping out and new ones welded in?
so you didn't get the bandit motor out of the GPZ ?

Would an 1100 Aircooled engine fit into a GS550 frame, or is an oil boiler an easier option?
I would think it'll be tight Toni !!!! an oil cooled engine would be a better bet. but only guessing
my mate squeezed a B12 engine in a Kat 400 frame but had to modify it.
anything is possible

I would make a guess that it might fit, the gsf and gsxf engines are pretty much the same. but theirs only one way to find out

no oil or brake fluid will come out of the top part of the antidive (where the hose bolts too) you can take the top part off with hoses still attached as both parts have a seal, it keeps both fluids separate. ive disconnected the small hose from the calliper on mine and just put a plastic plug in for now just to keep the crap out.
-
thats a can of worms opened
if you are talking an oil cooled engine then "IMO" only,,,, then yeah i prefer the feel of a cable, all you need is a front sprocket cover/cable/clutch lever and probably the 600 push rod.

would an aluminium colour powder coat work ?

f,b,o,b has done this a few times.

that seems strange ? i thought the 4 raised bits on the seal would go against the bearing !!!!!
looking on the parts diagram though it looks right
-
I tend to lay them down on its right side. works for me
take the cam cover breather off will help.

I put a 1200 bandit motor in a Z1000 frame, only had to take the breather cover off the cam cover, went in and out fairly easy with the engine on the floor on its side.

Thanks for the replies, its about 1.5mm longitudinal movement, another problem to sort out
I wouldn't worry about it, the output shaft bearing ( behind the sprocket ) has a C ring so the bearing will not move, the other end of the shaft is a needle roller. and as I said when the sprocket nut is tight their will be no movement.
-
yeah i would of thought very little if any, but when the sprocket is on and tight their will be no play at all.

I know. This is really pissing me off right now.
the intermittent faults are the worst to find,
good luck with it

Hey !
I tried 2 other identical ECUs with no success the other day (before i replaced the coil loom that i thought had solved the issue fully), so i ruled out the ECU ?
I have just checked continuity from the coil wires engine side to the coil ECU plug on the ECU side and it checks out
have you looked for Gremlins ??? them fuckers get everywhere
-
as i said earlier on, check the wiring from the pulse coils to the CDI or if you have a spare one try it on.
-
A few people have had success with this and back in the 80's I did an experiment with it. I had a 4 cylinder chop (gsx1100 engine) and the mid range was fecking crap so...... what I did was wrap some tape round the 4 filters about half way and it worked, bike ran sweet as. their was a guy who did the same thing on his bike on a forum but he did the mod on the inside of the filter so the filter looked normal. now is it restricting the air flow or stabilizing it ??????? don't know, all i know it worked

Why does the starter gear casing have that bit sticking out?
my guess is extra protection for a crash ?????
removing carbs from 1100ET

It depends on where its leaking, if its leaking inside the venturi of the carb then its likely to be the float valve, if its coming from the top of the float bowl (where the gasket is) then it could be the gasket, but if the carbs are sat upright (float bowl horizontal) the fuel shouldn't get that far up !!!! also check the pipes connecting the carbs together.
