buy a mechanic's stethoscope which are cheap as chips or use a long screwdriver up against the engine, it will help pinpoint the area where the noise is coming from. I have an earlier GSX750 and my engine is quiet as a mouse.

I put a B6 front wheel in a set of GSX1100E forks, the OEM spacers where bored out to take the B6 spindle and speedo drive. the disc's are close to the inside of the legs but enough room to be safe. had to make calliper mount brackets for callipers. with a bit of jiggery pokery anything is possible

Have you thought about the tyre ? is it worn ? is it the right size ? would a different size make a difference ?

Keys
in Air Cooled
1 hour ago, TonyC said:I have successfully reconfigured GS locks so that the keys match - if you can remove the barrel by some means (filing off the retaining peg IIRC?) you will be able to remove the barrel and pull out the four levers. I have found that there are usually 2 short and 2 long which can be swapped around to match your key, get it as close as you can and file flush any levers that stick up! Reassemble and secure with a small peg or similar.
Hope this makes sense?

yep, done the same thing.

Keys

1 hour ago, KATANAMANGLER said:I'll be honest I think the 80s Suzukis had about 5 lock variations. They are not sophisticated. I once lost my Katana key at a track day at Cadwell Park and the spare was at home. I just asked a few fellow 80s Suzuki riders if I could try their spare keys. Sure enough the 3rd one I tried from a GS750 worked a treat.
haha, yeah thats very true

yeah their should be a key number on the body of the lock, you will have to remove it from the yoke. some after market locks don't have numbers though !!!

I remember looking through the window of our local Suzuki dealer back in the late 70's at the 750 and 1100 L's that where sat their.
dreaming of buying one

looking at the none katana GSX1100 engines on the suzuki parts list shows the 80-81 with the "16 hole cover" and the 82-83 with the "20 hole cover"
don't know about the Kat engines though.

tyre pressures look much better

this gasket is for the 24 hole cam covers, but it had 20 holes as the 4 holes behind the chrome end covers dont need any.
Fits Suzuki GS1100 24 bolt cam cover gasket usa made. Cometic | Eblag

is this what you are looking for ? 83 on had the extra 4 bolt holes round the cam chain tunnel.
has 24 bolt holes. as far as i know their is just the 2 types ???????

the 600/650 bandit swingarms look identical so im pretty sure they'll fit, you can even fit a 1200 bandit swinger to a 600.

Am I assuming right that the gaskets need replacing?
It depends on where its leaking, if its leaking inside the venturi of the carb then its likely to be the float valve, if its coming from the top of the float bowl (where the gasket is) then it could be the gasket, but if the carbs are sat upright (float bowl horizontal) the fuel shouldn't get that far up !!!! also check the pipes connecting the carbs together.
