Toni,
can I ask you, how did you manage to cross reference the part numbers to discover they are used in other machines?
can't tell you , top secret

just had a quick look and theirs a few suzuki's use the same size.
gs1000 1980
gs500 1980
gs650g 1980-83 and others. P.N. 59600-49810 / 59600-49811
the OEM kit is no longer available but their are after market kits out their. the piston might not look the same as OEM but as long as the seals are the same size
this looks like it'll work.

Im sure their will be plenty of bikes that use the same size seals but its finding out which ones are the same ????? have you got a friendly bike shop you could take them too so they can compare ?
-
its a shame the bandit gets a bad press !!! it might not be the prettiest suzuki ever built but its defo not the ugliest. maybe they could of done a better job of the back end ? other than that I think they are good. they are a fun bike to ride/tour on and commute and all for little money
and most of the time very reliable. but we have to remember that the bandit did a lot for Suzuki when they where struggling

As the kickstart is pretty much redundant on the 750, has anyone removed the kickstart shaft and has the engine plate welded up ?
Just checking its possible to remove the kickstart shaft mechanism in its entirety from the engine without it causing issues
thanks
yeah you can remove the whole mechanism but im pretty sure you have to split the crankcase. then maybe find some sort of plug for the hole in the clutch cover or weld it up.

Man, that scares me...What would happen if the welding was too deep? THes japanese don't do weak sht
My friend might have a spare one...Wll, worst scenario would be leaving it as it is...Thanx folx
I think if the weld was ground flush then it should press out !!!!!!
just looked at my GSX1100 yoke, the stem is pressed in to the ally bottom yoke !!!! maybe the 750's had a steel yoke with the stem welded in ??????
-
yeah ive seen people grind the weld off and press it out as long as it still has a lip. finding just a stem is quite hard but you could buy a GSXR (or similar) bottom yoke and press the stem out for the bandit yoke. could get expensive though

Hi all,
I'm new to the suzuki bandit and want to know if theres really much difference betwwen the first 1100 model (mk1), k1 (2001) and k6 (2006)
- In terms of overall riding experience, handling, smothness etc, or is it really mininal ?
Has anyone actually ridden 2 or 3 of them and can make add any comments ?
I'm wondering if they are all much of a muchness, I know a few people say the mk1 is best, with the best carbs etc..
Chzyour not gona get any good response's on here about the bandit
but to answer your question the MK1 & MK2 1200 bandits are pretty much the same, the only real difference is the shape of the frame and bodywork. yeah they have different carbs but both are 36mm and produce the same amount of power. Imo the MK1 is a better looking bike than any of the others but not many people on here will agree the bandit is a good looking bike

you'll need to check if the GSX stem will press out and its not welded in, its pressed in on mine. all 1200 bandits are pressed in

But you need a haircut!
lol, thats my dog face bombing !!!!! told him to get out of the way but he just ignored me
yeah a 1200 bandit front end will go on with a bit of jiggery pokery !!! you'll need the bandit yokes but the stem is to long for the GSX frame. but you can press the GSX stem out and fit it in the bandit yokes then sort the lock stops out.

I was looking for ages for a set of disc's that would fit the bandit wheel and with a smaller offset but with the O.D of the GSX disc's !!!! i could then fit the standard callipers. but theirs nowt I could find apart for having some made at silly money
so went with 600 bandit disc's that clear the fork legs (including the disc bobbins) i had to cut the GSX pads down a bit as they are to wide for the disc face where the pads sit. yeah a bit of a bodge but will at some point get a pair of B6 callipers.
the standard GSX wheel spacers where machined out to take the 17mm bandit spindle and used a B6 speedo drive.
saying that I ended up changing the front wheel for an early GSXR1100 18 inch 3 spoke one, just thought it looked better for the style of bike
its a bit wider at the hub than the bandit which isn't a big problem as ZZR1100 disc's fit the wheel and have a much lower offset.
the wheel was already powder coated gold but should look better when its painted black.

Hey thanx Tony! I'll buy the front wheel directly and COPY YOU!
I see yo are using the original calipers! Oh by the way, What chain kit do you use? One for Bandit or one for your original GSX1100? Thanx again pal!
copy away Sam
yeah im using the OEM callipers off the GSX1100 as its all i had plus didn't have the dosh to buy any others
but they'll do for now on the 750.
the back sprocket i already had lying around but had to buy a cheap 530 front sprocket to fit the GSX750 engine. then i just buy the longest cheap 530 chain and cut it to fit.
the 750 is just gona be a run around for now so its built on a tight budget.

Hey Tony! The 750ES swingarm (original one) is ok finally (Just concerned about the chain touching the back fat Bandit 650 wheel). Now I'm worried about the front wheel:
- Original GSX750ES forks, wanna get a BANDIT 1200 wheel in there and not sure if I'd have to get all Bandit 1200 full forks and brake system....Cheerz pal
Hi Sam, ive put a 600 bandit rear wheel in my GS 750 with a GSX1100 swingarm, it has a 150 tire on it and theirs plenty of room for the chain to clear the frame and tire, i could fit a 160 tire and still have enough room but you need to machine the sprocket carrier down a bit so the chain is closer to the wheel and move the front sprocket out a few mm.
I also fitted a 600 MK1 front wheel in a set of GSX1100ED forks, its tight as the OEM disc's are close to the fork legs (about 3mm gap) don't know if the wider 1200 rim will cause a clearance problem with a wider tire ??? you will have to make some calliper hanger brackets though.

We had 1100 Kats here in the US back in 88+ with the oil cooled GSXR/Bandit look alike motor
But they were definitely not water cooled....
nobody mentioned water cooled engines ??? suzuki for some mad reason thought they would call the gsxf bikes katana's over in the US of A and other places (they even called a moped a katana !!!!!! ) we all know the ONLY katana's are air cooled.

At last someone has stated the obvious ! ! !
With a 3 & 4 spark problem it can't be coils! It can be leads / plug caps or plugs. This of course assuming the OP isn't trying to run 1 & 2 off one coil and 3 & 4 off the other DOH!
my mistake, i just assumed everyone knows how they work
-
1 hour ago, stockcar said:
They are 2x seperate coils and hence connections and so the spark on 1x side doesn't actually guarantee the 2nd coil has a 12v connection.......
but the O/P says he's lost spark on 3 & 4 plugs. so if their is a spark on 1 & 2 then both coils have a 12v supply.
one coil supplies cylinders 1 & 4. the other coil supplies cylinder 2 & 3.
-
1 hour ago, Neil-IOM said:
Unless im having a brain fart each coil has a separate 12v supply
yes both coils have a separate 12v supply as it splits off from the kill/ignition switches. so if 1 & 2 plugs have a spark then both coils have a 12v supply.
