  1. The one that just gone pop has been on for about 20 years and I use the bike to get to work (or I did before these strange times) every day.(y)

You make it sound like you don't like GS/gsx bike ;)

Won't solve the weak spot of the GSX engine charging system though. But it will fix the bike of course.

It's for my GS ;) I know same sort of thing, but you have to have something to do on a 40 year old bike or they would just be boring xD

  3. One Electrex reg/rec ordered today.

Thanks to everyone who also said other reg/rec but the Electrex ones just bolt straight on no messing with is it a genuine one or one that will go pop down the road. For the £76 posted the Electrex is the best way to go.

    Thanks all. (y)

  4. Getting insurance for a modified bike is not that hard or expensive.

Look into the gsx750f motors, they go for less that the gsxr750 and more of them about, give good power and will go in your b6.

You can run the gsx/gsxr on the b6 carbs but keep a eye open for a set of gsx750f carbs and your sorted.

Plus the gsx750f run the same type of brake calipers as the b6.

If you want a bigger front tyre look out for a rf600 goes straight in same brake discs the lot, just fitted with a 120 front tyre instead of the 110 b6. Or look a rf6 forks for that sporty feel, but I think they are a bit shorter than the b6 so check ground clearance but will fit into the b6 yokes.

I've got a rf6 front end with b6 top yoke on my gs1000, I've fitted gsxr1000k1 6 pots on with adapter plates.

  5. Well, new battery came today, standard acid type and at tick over 13.5v but when I put the revs up to 3000rpm it goes up 15 then 16 and then 17v

So I think the reg/rec has gone.

  6. I know it was on here somewhere but can't find it, so a big sorry in advance.

What/who dose the best new reg/rec for GS?

As I can't remember the name/contact details of the place.

    Thanks.

  7. Battery was flat so took it out to put it on charge and found this

Battery not quite flat in shape, so I put a old battery on and jumped started it from off the car, then checked what the charging is 17+volts.

So I think I may need a new rec/reg as well.

Just can't remember the best one to get it was on here at one point. I do a search and if no joy ask the question.

Only difference in "stages" is the size of the mains supplied in the kit iirc. Stage 3 kit is exactly the same as a stage 1 it just has some bigger jets in as well.

The stage thing is just a tag to make boy racer types think they have somthing special to shout about. Its not really a thing. Particulalrly when most of the time you get a bike setup on a dyno you find you need a jet size not included in the kit but one in between, what "stage" have you got then?

I just see the whole as setup and jetted to suit your spec/components, there are no stages :)

    My mistake,

I thought the stage 3 kits you had to drill the slides and put a plastic jet in them, and the stage 1 you didn't.

Putting on a Dyno is the best way some would say some not. xD

  9. If you want a gsxr slingshot but have not got the cash and just want to use all the bits from your b6 and put it onto the gsxr then when time/money aloud. Yes you could make it all fit, but I'd look out for the right swing arm and then graft your b6 wheel into that (just because of swing arm bearings) the front end, your bottom yoke as said above the stem will be to long, get a rf600 bottom yoke and use that, you will need to sort out lock stops.

  10. +1 with @TonyGee on what he is saying.

Only had one or two rear brakes that had the shims in and apart from one bike never had a squeal from the brakes, if you do put grease on the back make sure it's a high temp water resistant grease and put the smallest Sameer on.

or if the rear brake squeals a bit when you use it (that's another argument xD) you know it's working :D

  11. Yes, it's a cam cover breather gasket lots on eblag.

Always nice to introduce yourself in the general section (bit down the listing page ;)

You will get better response to your questions if we know who we are replying to (y)

    Edited it then 9_9
